NOURNEWS- Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has held bilateral meetings with officials from several countries on the sidelines of the Davos 2024 Summit in Switzerland.
Iranian FM meeting with his Spanish counterpart:
Amir-Abdollahian and his Spanish counterpart José Manuel Albares in a meeting which on Tuesday evening discussed various issues.
Expressing his satisfaction with the favorable relations between Iran and Spain, the top Iranian diplomat stressed that Iran has no restrictions over the expansion of ties between the two countries.
Referring to the historical ties between Tehran and Madrid, Amir-Abdollahian stressed the need for accelerating the expansion of ties in all fields and exchanging delegations in this regard.
He also invited his Spanish counterpart to visit Tehran to hold talks on various bilateral, regional, and international issues of mutual interest.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Iranian foreign minister stressed that Tehran is ready for the return of all JCPOA parties to the deal.
Touching upon the ongoing Israeli war against the Gaza Strip, Amir-Abdollahian hailed the position of Spain in this regard, stressing the need to end the conflict in order to restore security in the region.
“We do not welcome the escalation and expansion of the scope of the war in the region,” he said, adding that if the US stops its support for Tel Aviv, the regime would not be able to continue the war for more than several hours.
Albares, for his part, considered Iran to be a very important and influential actor in the region and welcomed the continuation of negotiations between Tehran and Madrid over their bilateral relations.
The Spanish foreign minister also considered the dialogue as the best way to resolve the differences regarding the JCPOA and declared his country's support for the continuation of the talks regarding the revival of the 2015 nuclear deal.
He also expressed concern about the consequences of the continuation of the war in Gaza and emphasized the need to stop the war and attacks on civilians and the need to observe international and humanitarian law.
He also expressed concern about the increase in tensions in the Red Sea, adding that the solution to the Palestinian crisis will affect the entire region.
Albares stressed that Madrid supports a political solution to the Palestinian issue.
Amir-Abdollahian meeting with caretaker Prime Minister of Lebanon Najib Mikati:
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has stressed Iran's determination to deepen cooperation with Lebanon on bilateral, regional, and international issues.
Amir-Abdollahian made the remarks in a meeting with caretaker Prime Minister of Lebanon Najib Mikati, in Davos, Switzerland, late on Tuesday.
He said that the stability and security of Lebanon affect the entire region, and the Islamic Republic of Iran has always supported peace and calm in Lebanon.
The top diplomat hailed the role played by the Lebanese government, people, and the resistance in supporting the Palestinian nation in their current struggle against the Israeli regime.
Unfortunately, under the US support for the Zionist regime, the war against Gaza keeps going on, and we are witnessing the killing of Palestinian citizens, women, and children and the genocide of Palestinians by the Zionist regime, said Amir-Abdollahian.
Referring to US plans for a change in the situation in Gaza after the war, the minister said that no one has the right to impose anything on the Palestinian nation.
The Palestinians themselves should decide on how to manage the affairs in Gaza and in the West Bank, he said.
Meanwhile, Mikati emphasized the importance of constructive relations between Lebanon and Iran.
The Lebanese PM also welcomed maintaining joint consultations with Iran.
He described the situation in Palestine and the region as worrying, saying that it is necessary to strengthen political efforts to end the war against Gaza.
During the meeting, the two sides stressed the continuation of consultations to force and end the Israeli regime's crimes against the Palestinians, and to open the aid corridors to Gaza and help establish peace and stability in the region.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian underlined that the Islamic Republic does not welcome war and insecurity in the region, and said that over the past 100 days Tehran has made a lot of efforts to end the war and Israel's attacks on Gaza and create peace in the region.
Amir-Abdollahian made the remarks in a meeting with his Norwegian counterpart, Espen Barth Eide, in Davos, Switzerland, on Tuesday.
He thanked Norway for its good attention and attention to the situation in Gaza and the region.
“If the root of the crisis in Gaza is well understood, the solution to the crisis is very simple,” he added.
He pointed out that more than 100 days have passed since the start of the Israeli regime's war against Gaza, and considered America's support for the continuation of the war as a big mistake.
“The Israeli and American regime insisting on the continuation of the war and the genocide of Palestinians and great destruction in Gaza is an achievement. They do not have and will not have, and they cannot achieve anything through military means,” he added.
He rejected any political solution imposed on the Palestinians and said that in any political solution for the Palestinian issue, the Palestinian people and groups should be at the center of any solution.
Referring to his recent good talks with his Iranian counterpart and expressing his satisfaction with the continuation of bilateral consultations, the Norwegian foreign minister pointed out the very difficult and complicated conditions in Gaza.
“Unfortunately the conditions in Gaza, Lebanon and the Red Sea are getting worse, and we are ready to try to manage and calm the situation,” he added.
Amir-Abdollahian meeting with Pakistan’s interim Prime Minister Anwaar ul Haq Kakar:
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has described relations between Iran and Pakistan as deep and historical, highlighting Tehran’s readiness to expand its ties with Islamabad as much as possible.
He made the remarks in a meeting with Pakistan’s interim Prime Minister Anwaar ul Haq Kakar on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos in Switzerland on Tuesday.
During the meeting, the Iranian foreign minister expressed satisfaction with the growing bilateral ties, saying the two countries’ leaders strive to increase the volume of bilateral trade from $2.5 billion to $5 billion.
Appreciating Pakistan’s expression of sympathy with Iran over a deadly terrorist attack in the southern city of Kerman earlier this month, Amir-Abdollahian said fighting terrorism is one of the most important sources of concern for both countries.
He also touched on the situation in Gaza, calling for an immediate end to the Zionist regime’s war on the besieged territory, warning that although the Americans think they can manage the situation as they wish, “during wartime anything could happen.”
Kakar, for his part, underscored the importance of Tehran-Islamabad relations and expressed his country’s desire to strengthen its ties with Iran.
He also said the two Islamic republics are facing common challenges such as terrorism, calling for joint efforts and cooperation to limit such perils.
