Yemen army targets US vessel in Red Sea

The spokesman for the Armed Forces of Yemen has announced targeting a ship belonging to the United States in the Red Sea.

NOURNEWS- The spokesman for the Armed Forces of Yemen has announced targeting a ship belonging to the United States in the Red Sea.

According to Al-Masirah TV channel, Brigadier General Yahya Saree said on Wednesday that the Yemeni armed forces targeted a US vessel, which was defending the Israeli regime’s interests, with several ballistic and naval missiles, as well as drones.

The operation is the initial response to the recent treacherous strike by the American enemy against Yemeni forces, he said, adding that Yemeni armed forces will not hesitate to respond to any hostile threats in line with legitimately defending the Arab country and nation.

The spokesman further underlined that his country will continue to target Israeli vessels until the end of the onslaught in the Gaza Strip and the end of the siege on the area.

He also noted that shipping in the Red Sea is safe and secure for ships except for Israeli vessels and ships bound for the occupied territories.

The US has set up a maritime alliance to confront the Yemeni operation in the Red Sea, but France, Spain and Italy stressed they withdrew from the coalition and refused to dispatch their warships to participate in the US-led Operation Prosperity Guardian.
