NOURNEWS- Dr. Fatima Ismaeel Hassan's statement regarding the virtues of Sayyidah Fatima (as) on the occasion of her birthday.
The statement is as follows:
In the name of Allah, the most gracious:
“Verily, we have given you abundance. So, pray to your Lord and sacrifice to Him. Indeed, it is your insulter who is without posterity." (Suratul Kauthar)
The above chapter of the glorious Quran was revealed as a glad tiding to the holy Prophet (S) when the unbelievers were insulting him, saying that he would die without posterity. And Allah (T) in His magnanimity blessed the holy prophet with Sayyidah Fatima (as), who carried on the legacy of her father - Islam - which is a message of guidance and truth as well as emancipation for mankind.
According to authentic sources of traditions, Sayyidah Fatima (AS), the beloved daughter of the holy Prophet of Mercy Muhammad (S), was born on the 20th of Jumada Thani, in the 5th year of the declaration of prophethood. And her miraculous birth was a turning point in the history of humanity.
Her virtues, as revealed in the Holy Quran and narrated in prophetic traditions, cannot be overstated. Many Quranic verses demonstrated her spiritual and moral values. The holy Prophet (S) in a Hadith described Fatima (AS) as not only his beloved daughter and a part of him, but also his essence and spirit. In another Hadith, it is narrated that the Prophet said about her: “Whoever displeases Fatima equally displeases me, and whoever displeases me has displeased Allah.” In another narration, she is said to be the princess of all women from the past and future generations.
She exemplifies modesty, chastity, humility, integrity, pristine human dignity, and nobility. She is the pinnacle of Allah’s creation; thus, her purity and spiritual essence are a reflection of the beauty and magnanimity of Allah! Words are not enough to describe her true being; she is only truly known by her Creator, her father, her husband, and the infallible household. She occupies such a lofty position that intellect cannot possibly conceive of. Therefore, to call her the best of women is an understatement.
Yet, her ethical purity and the divine position she occupies do not prohibit her from social responsibilities. For a start, growing up as a child, she witnessed the persecution of her beloved father and the few Muslims faithful around him, an event that at the time threatened the very existence of the nascent Islamic movement. Muslim faithful were cowed into silence, but Sayyidah Fatima (AS), although at a tender age, bravely and effectively rose to the defense of her father and Islam, by extension, from the marauding attacks of unbelievers! She was a girl, but unlike others, she had a fragile hand, but a heart made of steel!
She signifies what an ideal daughter, wife, and mother should be, as exemplified through her valor, compassion, love, and sacrifice. To the holy Prophet (S), she was “the mother of her father” owing to the way she protected him with her entire being; to her husband, she was a reliable ally and his best friend; to her children, she was foremost a teacher and then a great source of inspiration. To the rest of society, she was that perfect personality figure they all looked up to.
One aspect of her life that is seldom discussed is her struggle for the establishment of social justice and the abolition of corrupt social practices of the day such as brazen corruption, oppression, tyranny, and various other forms of human rights abuse. She was a champion for the oppressed and a thorn in the flesh of tyrants and corrupt political elites.
Even after her death, she is still a force to be reckoned with. Her life serves as an inspiration for past and future generations. Wherever there is a righteous resistance—an awakening—there you will find the spirit of Fatima (AS)—the greatest woman there would ever be. The daughter, wife, and mother whose sacrifice changed the course of human history. The world has in her a universal role model for men and women, children, and the elderly.
She was blessed with sound knowledge and a good understanding of the political, economic, and cultural dynamics of her time. This helped her bring about a revolutionary change in society. This revolutionary ideal is still in existence to this day, as can be seen in the exemplary life of our leader, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky (H), who, as we can all agree, is a staunch fighter of tyranny and oppression and a renowned champion of justice, truth, and righteousness.
As we celebrate the birth anniversary of this great personality, we call upon the people of the world to emulate the good moral conduct of Sayyidah Fatima, as well as her revolutionary idea of opposing tyranny and oppression in all its forms, which unfortunately has now become the order of the day across the world. We also call upon the people to support the oppressed people of Palestine, who have been subjected to constant bombing and brutal raids by the soldiers of the illegitimate state of Israel.
May peace and blessings of Allah be upon Sayyidah Fatima (as) and those who follow the right path.
Dr. Fatima Ismaeel Hassan
