- Cargo handling in Iranian ports tops 53.5m tons

A total of 53,582,107 tons of non-oil products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21-December 21, 2023), according to figures by the country’s Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).
The figures indicate 21.3 percent of growth compared to the corresponding period last year.

- Iran’s biggest seamless steel pipe plant opens

Iranain Minister of Industry, Mine, and Trade Abbas Aliabadi inaugurated the country’s biggest seamless steel pipe factory in Abhar, Zanjan Province, in northwestern Iran.
The factory is equipped with the most modern manufacturing technology for seamless steel pipe production, which has also created 1,000 jobs directly, as well as 3,000 jobs indirectly.

- Iran-Russia deal, BRICS expansion spell dollar demise

Last week, Iran and Russia announced to have finalized an agreement to trade in their local currencies instead of the US dollar. The agreement signed during a meeting between the governors of the two countries’ central banks in Russia enables banks and economic actors to use infrastructures including non-SWIFT interbank systems to deal in local currencies.
Both Iran and Russia are subject to US sanctions, which have motivated the emerging allies to craft their own path in the global economy and break away from traditional monetary systems as countries around the world shift away from the greenback.

- Rasht Holds Third Grand Culinary Festival

The third edition of Iran’s grand culinary festival has been held in the northern city of Rasht this week. The UNESCO-backed food festival showcases over two-hundred local dishes fading from popular culture. The goal is to revive and reintroduce them into the public eye.
In late December every year, the northern Iranian city of Rasht celebrates the anniversary since it was officially designated as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy in 2015.

- ISIPO Head: 1,240 Production Units Set Up in Industrial Parks Since March

 Head of Iran Small Industries and Industrial Parks Organization (ISIPO) Farshad Moghimi said that 1,240 production units have been established and started activity in the country’s industrial parks and zones since March 21.
The mentioned units have created jobs for 17,727 persons, the official stated. Moghimi has said that 897 idle industrial units have been revived in the country’s industrial parks and zones since the beginning of the present year.

- Oil Set for Weekly Gain With Global Supply Risks Mounting

Oil rose, cementing a weekly advance, aided by supply risks in the Middle East and Libya. Brent crude climbed to trade near $78 a barrel as tensions in the Middle East and North Africa ratcheted higher this week.
Protesters in Libya disrupted supply from the Sharara and El-Feel fields, which could take about 300,000 barrels a day out of the market. Meanwhile, the Houthi combatant group in Yemen claimed another attack on a merchant ship in the Red Sea.

- Iran defeat Burkina Faso in friendly match

 Iran national football team came from a goal down to beat Burkina Faso 2-1 in a friendly match on Friday. Iran and Burkina Faso players observed a minute’s silence before the kick-off for the victims of the terrorist attack in Kerman.

Mohamed Konaté gave the visiting a lead in the 12th minute in Kish Island’s Olympic Stadium but Mehdi Taremi canceled out his goal three minutes before the halftime. Omid Ebrahimi was also on target in the 70th minute.

- Art, culture community condemns Kerman terrorist attacks, expresses condolences to Iranians

-Following the Wednesday terrorist attack in the southeastern Kerman Province, where over 100 people lost their lives, several art and cultural organizations as well as officials and artists condemned the attacks and extended their condolences to the Iranian people.

Two terrorist blasts near the burial site of Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani in the city of Kerman during a ceremony marking his fourth martyrdom anniversary left 103 people dead and 265 more injured.

-  Iran, Turkey prepare to hold joint economic committee meeting

The coordination meetings of Iran-Turkey Joint Economic Committee were held during the visit of the Iranian minister of transport and urban development as the head of this committee to Ankara.

During his visit to Turkey on Wednesday, Mehrdad Bazrpash held separate meetings with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, the country’s Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Ashkin Bak, who is also the the head of the joint committee, and the minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu to coordinate the approvals at the upcoming joint committee.
