NOURNEWS- Although the sad silence that surrounds this year's Christmas is a mourning of the war in the Gaza Strip, but this is not the only conflict that has made the holiday of the end of the year void of glitter and joy; Because the war in Ukraine and its financial consequences are narrowing and threatening the economic arteries of Europe and the livelihood of its citizens every day more than the previous days.
According to the report of European institutions, on the eve of this year's Christmas celebrations, the markets for buying and selling second-hand goods were more prosperous compared to previous years; Because citizens across Europe have decided to save money for the holiday season this year due to financial constraints.
Polls in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain show that half of respondents plan to spend less this Christmas "due to the high cost of living".
According to a survey recently published by market research institute GfK, almost three-quarters of low-income German households plan to save for Christmas groceries. When Germany, as the largest economy in Europe, has such a situation, the conditions of other countries of the green continent can be guessed.
According to a YouGov survey conducted in early December, more than 50% of British families are cutting back on their Christmas spending due to rising living costs. Another survey by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) also found that 46% of respondents planned to buy less food or Christmas presents.
According to figures from the Center for Economic and Business Research, households will have to spend £118 (US$149.9) more this year to do the same things as Christmas 2019 (preparing food and presents).
However, media such as the BBC, in order to support the policies of the British government, i.e., the continuation of the war in Ukraine, tried to mask the face of "Sad Christmas" with clips of festive and happy images. A mask that cannot cover the regret of Christians from being victims of "peace" due to the warmongering policies of their
respective governments, as well as the growing concern of European and American citizens about the economy affected by the war.
