NOURNEWS- Syrian President Bashar al-Assad commended Palestinian resistance groups for inflicting a “resounding” defeat on Israel, despite staunch Western support for the Zionist regime’s genocidal war in the besieged Gaza Strip.
Addressing a party gathering in Damascus, Assad credited the Palestinian resistance for “shattering” Israeli hegemony, challenging the dominance of the Zionist narrative on a global scale. He highlighted the significant role of truth in the ongoing conflict, asserting that the resistance has effectively exposed Israel's "terrorist reality" to the world.
Assad underscored the global impact of the resistance's efforts, stating, "The most terrifying thing for Israel is that the world knows its terrorist reality, so today’s battle is the battle of truth." He emphasized the importance of resistance, stating that its cost is lower than that of surrender, defending not only Palestine but also all Arab countries and Syria.
Addressing the interconnectedness of the struggle, Assad stated, “Today, Gaza defends Palestine, Palestine defends Syria, and Palestine defends all Arab countries. This is also the situation with the resistance in Lebanon. The Lebanese resistance defends the south, defends all of Lebanon, defends Syria, and defends the Arabs.”
The Syrian president highlighted the historical impact of events in Gaza, noting that they have altered historical facts for years and generations, irrespective of the war's specific outcomes.
The Israeli offensive, ongoing since early October, has resulted in the deaths of nearly 20,000 Palestinians, with over 51,000 others sustaining injuries. The devastating toll includes thousands missing and presumed dead under the rubble in Gaza, which remains under complete siege by Israel. As the international community calls for an end to Israel’s hostilities against Palestinian civilians, the Israeli regime continues to pound Gaza after more than two months of genocidal warfare.
