Iranian FM to his Chinese counterpart: Region could explode at any time if Gaza attacks continue

Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has said that the Gaza war has already expanded in the West Asia region, warning that the region would explode at any time if Israeli attacks against the Palestinian territory are not stopped immediately.

“The scope of the war in the region has expanded, and if the attacks on Gaza are not stopped immediately, there is the possibility that the region explodes at any time, with all parties losing control”, Amir-Abdollahian told Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi as the two discussed the Gaza war on the phone last night. “Unfortunately, the American side does not understand the danger of the further expansion of the war. The life of its ally, [Benjamin] Netanyahu, is only in the continuation of war and genocide. The situation in the region will not remain like this,” the Iranian foreign minister further said in reference to the Israeli prime minister’s move to press ahead with the Gaza war despite growing international calls to stop the bloodshed of the Palestinians there.

“The security of the region is important for all of us”, Amir-Abdollahian said, adding that the Islamic Republic of Iran have held numerous negotiations with regional countries on that issue. He also expressed dissatisfaction with the recent US veto of a UN Security Council resolution on a ceasefire in Gaza, and called on China to play an active role to help stop the war, considering Beijing’s previous constructive efforts in promoting peace and stability in the region.

The Chinese FM expressed regret over the US veto of the resolution, stating that his country attaches importance to reaching a ceasefire and immediately sending humanitarian assistance to Gaza. The two officials discussed relations between Tehran and Beijing as well, with both expressing satisfaction over the development of the bilateral ties.

Amir-Abdollahian to his Russian counterpart: 'US veto of Gaza truce resolution, permission to continue genocide'

Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian expressed regret over the recent US veto of a UN Security Council resolution on a ceasefire in Gaza, describing the veto as permission to continue genocide against people in the besieged Palestinian territory.

The top Iranian diplomat discussed the Gaza war with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov on the phone on Monday, three days after the US vetoed the resolution at the latest Security Council’s meeting since the Israeli regime waged its war on Gaza on October 7. Amir-Abdollahian reiterated calls for an immediate stop to Israel’s war crimes against Gazans and sending humanitarian assistance to the besieged enclave. Lavrov, on his part, emphasized the need for continued efforts to reach a ceasefire in Gaza, send more humanitarian aid to the territory, and to form an independent Palestinian state.

The two foreign ministers also discussed relations between their countries, as well as a last week meeting between President Ebrahim Raisi and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Moscow. Lavrov called the meeting very important. Amir-Abdollahian stressed the importance of continued negotiations between top Iranian and Russian officials.

Amir-Abdollahian and Mr. Fidan express their countries' call for imposing pressure on Israeli regime to stop Gaza war

Foreign ministers of Iran and Turkey have underlined the need for developing diplomatic efforts to put pressure on the Israeli regime to accept a ceasefire and stop the onslaught in the Gaza Strip.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan held a phone conversation on Monday night in order to discuss mutual and regional issues, particularly the continuation of crimes committed by the Israeli regime against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. Iran’s top diplomat described the United States’ all-out support for the Israeli regime as the underlying matter, which emboldens the regime to continue its war crimes, and called for the end of the atrocities and genocide as well as the implementation of rescue operations in the war-stricken Gaza.

Amir-Abdollahian also attached importance to the development of mutual ties between Tehran and Ankara, as well as the upcoming meeting between presidents of both nations.

Fidan, for his part, pointed out to the eighth summit between high-ranking officials of the two countries in the near future, appreciating diplomatic endeavors made by Iran to help establish a truce in Gaza, naming the issue of Palestine as the focal point in today’s Islamic world.
