NOURNEWS- Iran's Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, has traveled to Geneva to meet and discuss with the officials of the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross regarding the Palestinian crisis and especially pursuing the issue of lifting the blockade and sending humanitarian aid to the oppressed people of Gaza and has met and discussed with Volker Türk the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.
While appreciating Mr. Türk's recent trip to the region of Rafah and its border crossing, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian stated the purpose of his trip to Geneva and said: the purpose of my trip to Geneva and these talks is to examine ways to end the human tragedy in Gaza. He then added that now, in addition to attacking residential areas in Gaza, attacking hospitals has also become a priority for the Zionist regime, and the UN Security Council, due to the influence of some of its members in support of the Zionist regime, could not fulfill its role in stopping the war and ending this Tragedy.
Emphasizing the importance of the role of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in helping to end the ongoing tragedy in Gaza, Dr. Amir-Abdollahian suggested that the Human Rights Council should hold an extraordinary meeting for discussion and exchange of views among the member states of the United Nations to help find a solution for the current crisis.
Furthermore, the Iranian foreign minister also proposed that the Human Rights Council should form a team of experts to document the Zionist regime's doings and what it is still doing in Gaza.
Dr. Amir-Abdollahian also pointed out the intensive and continuous efforts of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the path of ending the aggression of the Zionist regime and also helping humanitarian goals in connection with the current crisis in Gaza and said that the reasons for the further expansion of war and the situation in the region getting out of control still exists and can possibly happen at every moment and the only thing that can control this situation is to stop the Zionist regime's aggression in Gaza, send humanitarian aid and prevent the displacement of the people of Gaza.
The Iranian foreign minister said that it is in the interest of all parties to work to end the aggression, lift the siege, send humanitarian aid, and prevent the displacement of the people of Gaza.
While expressing his satisfaction with this meeting and referring to his recent trip to the Rafah region and its border crossing, Mr. Volker Türk, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, described the humanitarian conditions in Gaza and even the West Bank as very worrying, and as he explained his efforts and the Secretary General of the United Nations' efforts, he said that it is clear that action to stop the war is necessary to help to get out of the current situation. He then added that we should make maximum efforts to find a solution for this complex and deplorable situation and prevent the war from spreading and the situation from becoming even more complicated.
