NOURNEWS- Reza Najafi, Iran's deputy foreign minister for legal and international affairs, touched upon the subject of Iran's reservations regarding the Riyadh resolution in an interview with a Tehran based news agency:
In response to why, despite the announcement of Iran's reservation in the ministerial meeting regarding clauses of the resolution, Iran's name was not included in the footnote of the resolution similar to countries such as Iraq and Tunisia, Mr. Najafi said: The image of the resolution in Arabic is mistaken as the OIC resolution by some news sources, which has been published and created ambiguities, belongs to the website of the Arab League, and it is in the format and procedure of the resolutions of that union, and the resolution of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation was published today and was placed on the website of the organization, which does not have any footnotes.
Basically, the format of the resolutions of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation does not contain a footnote that includes the reservations of the members, and in the past 50 years there has been no record of the reservations of the members being included under the resolution, and the reservations are always included in the final report of the meeting.
As in the past, the Islamic Republic of Iran, which had reservations about issues such as the two-state solution, announced its reservations right there at the ministerial meeting in Riyadh, which will be included in the final report along with other considerations of Iran.
Instead of dealing with the margins and questioning the professional and accurate work of the delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran, it is better to focus on the content of the resolution, which contains strong terms, including many proposals presented by Iran, and ask the international community and countries to approve and implement the resolutions of the summit faster.
