Raisi: Tehran and Tashkent need to plan for upgrading cooperation

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has held talks with his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the importance of targeting an increase in the level of bilateral relations.

NOURNEWS- Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has held talks with his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the importance of targeting increase in the level of bilateral relations.

The talks were held in the Uzbek capital of Tashkent on Thursday morning.

Raisi is now in Uzbekistan to take part in the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) summit.

During the talks, the president said the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran pursues the promotion of economic and political ties with the Islamic and neighboring states.

Expressing satisfaction over the process of implementation of mutual agreements between Iran and Uzbekistan, the Iranian president called for planning to upgrade the level of cooperation.

For his part, the Uzbek president stressed the need to develop Tashkent-Tehran relations.

He also thanked Iran for opening a house of technology in Uzbekistan; the opening as he said will help get familiarized with Iran’s related achievements, potentials, and experiences.

The 16th ECO Summit is to be held in the Uzbek capital today on November 9.

Before departing for Tashkent, the Iranian president visited Dushanbe, Tajikistan, at the invitation of his Tajik counterpart.
