Israeli threat of using nuclear bomb undermines TPNW

Nasser Kanaani at his weekly press conference:

Israeli threat of using nuclear bomb undermines TPNW

The spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry lashed out at a Zionist minister for his comments on the possibility of dropping an atomic bomb on Gaza, saying such a threat weakens the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW).

NOURNEWS- Speaking in his regular press conference on Monday, Nasser Kanaani said that different brutal acts taken by the Zionists against the Palestinian people cannot be counted, and this new genocide is taking place daily in front of the whole world and with the support of several Western regimes, especially the United States.

It is regretted that the United States has taken the UNSC and the global peace hostage by misusing its power, he added.

The threat of using an atomic bomb against the people of Gaza, considering the barbaric behavior of the Zionists, must be taken seriously by the international community, he said, adding that this threat will weaken the system of banning weapons of mass destruction.

This threat shows the Zionist regime's desperation towards the Palestinian resistance, and it also shows that the Zionist regime has no limits to its war crimes, he noted.

Iran will definitely consult with the United Nations and its secretary general, and we should consider this issue as a serious threat to international peace, Kanaani said.

Visit of Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al Sudani to Iran

The spokesman pointed to the ongoing visit by Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al Sudani to Iran, stating that he is not aware of whether the Iraqi official is conveying a message or not; however, it is possible because of the potentiality of escalation of the war in the West Asia region.

As to Pakistan’s policy in the face of Afghan migrants, he noted that the issue is in the framework of the Pakistan-Afghanistan relationship; thus, the authorities in Islamabad are expected to express their viewpoints in this regard; however, what is significant for Iran is that the issue of Afghan refugees has its roots in years of foreign aggression and 20 years of occupation by the United States.

Kanaani further stated that the US administration should compensate for the damages it inflicted upon Afghanistan's infrastructure and the lives of Afghan people. On Sunday, the issue of Afghan migrants was raised in a meeting between Iranian authorities and an Afghan delegation in Tehran, and the two sides decided to take action to minimize the plights of the migrants, he noted.

The diplomat also referred to a visit by Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Ali Bagheri Kani to Europe to hold talks with European politicians, focusing on the developments in Palestine. Given the viewpoints of the Europeans concerning regional and international peace and security, they are expected to play a responsible role, when it comes to the developments in the Gaza Strip.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Kanaani said that negotiations to lift anti-Iran sanctions are still underway, and Tehran is taking advantage of the opportunities of such meetings to raise the issue.

Blinken’s regional tour

Speaking about the visit of the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken to the region to make accusations against Iran, the spokesman said that the US effort to ceaselessly accuse Iran has been made in line with diverting public opinion.

“We believe that the US is not a solution but one side of war,” Kanaani added.

As the spokesman stressed, the Islamic Republic of Iran has never told anyone what to do or what not to do, and this is confirmed by the Palestinian Resistance movement, Hamas, and others.

He went on to say that the recent operation against the Zionist regime was staged under a completely Palestinian-made decision, and such accusations will not relieve the White House from its responsibility for the crimes in Gaza.

The root of anti-US measures in the region is the US policies and behavior towards the regional nations, he underlined.

The United States, on one hand, cannot send a message that it is not after the expansion of war, and on the other hand, it could not let the Zionist regime continue its war crimes, the spokesman said.

So, it is natural that the Resistance fronts were angry about the US and the regime's behavior.

The threat of using nukes in Gaza by Israeli minister

Nasser Kanaani denounced the comments by far-right Israeli minister Amichai Eliyahu who has suggested that dropping an atomic bomb on Gaza was a possible option against Hamas.

Such comments must be taken into serious consideration given the ferocious conduct of the Zionist regime, which is in possession of atomic bombs, he added.

Kanaani said the threatening remarks by the Zionist minister would undermine the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.

“We hope the United Nations would appropriately and immediately take care of this issue as a threat to international peace.”

Elsewhere in the presser, Kanaani took a swipe at certain Western states for unleashing “the wild Zionist regime”, saying the self-proclaimed Western advocates of international peace that have been responding to imaginary threats for years have now remained silent on the Israeli threat of use of nukes.

The Zionist regime’s threat to drop an atomic bomb reveals the extent of its humiliation in the face of the Palestinian nation and indicates that Israel has no red lines and has no respect for international law, the Iranian spokesman said.

“This (Israeli) threat shows that the Zionist regime poses a real threat to international peace and security more than ever,” he added.
