NOURNEWS- Osama Hamdan, the top representative of Hamas in Lebanon, in an interview with a Tehran-based news agency, discussed the recent developments in Palestine and the positions of Arab countries toward these developments.
Considering the developments in the region following the successful operation of “Al Aqsa Storm” and the positions of Egypt, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia as Arab countries that have pursued the normalization of relations with the Zionist regime in recent years, do you think there will be a change in this area? Will they enter the scene in favor of resistance or not?
Without a doubt, we believe that the resistance and the recent developments in the occupied territories have pushed these countries towards adopting better positions than in the past. We appreciate Egypt because it opposed the forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza to the Sinai Desert. This was a plan that we opposed, and the official position of Egypt helped prevent such an event from happening. However, we are certainly interested in Egypt playing a better role.
Regarding Jordan, I should say that it is certain that if Palestinians were relocated to the Sinai Desert, Jordan would also face the risk of displacement of Palestinians from the West Bank to this country, and the Zionist regime would continue to advance step by step. For this reason, Jordan has also taken a supportive position in opposition to the forced displacement of Palestinians. On Wednesday, Jordan decided to recall its ambassador to Tel Aviv in response to the war in Gaza, accusing the Zionist regime of creating an “unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe”. Jordan also told the Zionist regime to recall its ambassador to the kingdom amid the crisis, which was a good move. We consider this a step in the right direction and hope that the next step will be a complete cessation of relations between the two sides and an end to cooperation between Jordan and the occupying regime.
The Saudi Arabia’s position toward the recent developments in Palestine has been based on their adherence to Arab peace initiatives. What we said was related to the official positions of these countries, but regarding the popular positions of these countries, we have seen that they have stood in solidarity with the resistance.
With regard to the resistance movement in Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, and today in Palestine, Gaza and the West Bank, and the unified support for Hamas operations, how do you predict the future of the war? Will the Zionist regime move towards a ceasefire, or will the resistance axis enter the war from several fronts?
Undoubtedly, this war, given its scope and importance, is being led with a kind of sharp-sightedness and leadership. We believe that in the end, the enemy will move towards a ceasefire, and its defeat is certain because it knows that if the resistance axis decides to fully engage in this matter, the amount of damage will be very high, and they cannot withstand it.
If the occupying regime continues its aggressions, the resistance has many options available, and time is not on the side of the occupying regime.
