NOURNEWS- In the phone conversation between British and Iranian Foreign Ministers, James Cleverly and Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, they discussed the developments in Gaza and some bilateral issues.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran stated in a phone call with the British Foreign Minister: In any approach, it should be known that the root of the Palestinian crisis goes back to the occupation of the Israeli regime.
Dr. Amir-Abdollahian added: From the point of view of international law, the people of the country under occupation have the right to legitimate defense and self-defense.
Amir-Abdollahian clarified: Also, in the framework of the principles of international law, the principle of proportionality should also be taken into account in every war. In this regard, the massacre of more than 9,000 Palestinian civilians, in an act of revenge and genocide openly declared by the Zionist regime, is not acceptable by any standards.
In response to the British Foreign Minister's support for the Israeli regime, while recommending that Britain should look at regional developments with a realistic approach, Amir-Abdollahian added: The Islamic Republic of Iran has always considered the fight against the occupation phenomenon based on known principles and international laws as a legitimate right.
Iranian Foreign Minister emphasized that the Israeli regime's genocide in Gaza must be stopped immediately, and humanitarian aid should be widely provided to Gaza.
Amir-Abdollahian considered the extensive support of the US government to Tel Aviv as the cause of the increase in the intensity of the war in this region and clarified in response: The resistance forces in the region do not take orders from Iran, but they do make decisions based on considerations and conditions, as well as in line with their country's national security and security of the region.
In addition, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, emphasizing mutual respect, stressed the importance of focusing on diplomacy and dialogue as a suitable option in the path of cooperation between Tehran and London and avoiding baseless accusations.
In this telephone conversation, the British Foreign Minister, while referring to his country's positions regarding the developments in Palestine and clarifying the history regarding the relations between the UK and Iran, asked and requested of Islamic Republic of Iran to prevent the expansion of the scope of the war in the region.
The British Foreign Minister called the process of cooperation between the two countries important within the framework of diplomatic conventions.
