NOURNEWS- The following text is the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding the negotiations between the delegations of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the four governments of Ukraine, Britain, Sweden, and Canada regarding the Ukrainian plane crash:

Statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding the negotiations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the four governments of Ukraine, Britain, Sweden, and Canada on the Ukrainian plane crash

On October 2-3, 2023, talks were held between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the delegations of Canada, England, Ukraine, and Sweden regarding the Ukrainian plane crash in Geneva (Switzerland). Considering that immediately after the said meeting the four governments, in the form of the self-proclaimed coordination and response group, have issued a statement trying to make a unilateral and biased narrative of the issue, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran considers it necessary to publish this statement to inform public opinion.
Based on good faith and for transparency, the delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran, consisting of representatives of the relevant agencies, intended to present a full report on the measures taken regarding this subject, but because of the opposition of the said governments for conducting functional negotiations and with no prejudicial and accusations, the report was not provided.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has prepared and published a technical report on the accident with the participation of representatives of related countries faster than the time specified in international regulations. The aim of the technical review of the accident is to find the causes of the accident and explain it in order to create transparency, to transfer experience to other countries and, most importantly, to strengthen aviation safety to prevent similar accidents from occurring. It should be noted that representatives of the relevant governments were involved in the process of preparing technical reports, including reading the plane's black boxes. The final technical report of the crash has been publicly published both in Persian and English. Also, in order to improve flight safety and for maximum reliability, continuous and accurate investigations have been carried out by relevant institutions in Iran and necessary measures have been taken.
In order to pay attention to the interests of the families of the deceased and to appease these loved ones, the Islamic Republic of Iran has paid a hundred and fifty thousand dollars per death beyond its international obligations and has paid a significant number of families so far. The other survivors who have not yet received their damages will receive it after visiting Iran's Ministry of Road and Urban Development in the least amount of time.
As the judicial authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran have also stated, the competent court has carried out the judicial proceedings under the laws of the Islamic Republic of Iran and according to the criteria of fair trial, with utmost care and seriousness, and for ten of the defendants, in various hierarchies, who have failed or neglected their duty because of indiscretion, and non-compliance with the government, with no compensation, they all have been sentenced to bear the sentence of Imprisonment and further punishments have been issued as well. Besides these punishments, many defendants have been subjected to disciplinary punishments, such as dismissal and being demoted.
The Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran believes it has accomplished all the duties that the rules and regulations of international law have placed on the country where the accident occurred, in the shortest time. Unfortunately, by provoking and centering a particular government, ignoring the mentioned measures and ignoring the relevant international regulations and procedures, the other side has sought to advance its political agendas by citing non-technical and vague contents, causing a gap in positions and lack of results and a loss of diplomatic opportunity at the Geneva Summit.
At the end of the meeting, on principle, the delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran emphasized on the continuation of the interaction and conducting of talks and expressed its willingness for negotiations focused on the outcome. The continuation of the talks will be subject to the declaration of readiness by the opposing parties.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran considers itself to inform the noble people of Iran that the downing of the Ukrainian plane was a tragic and saddening incident, with the majority of its dead people being Iranian nationals and children. The authorities of Iran and army have repeatedly expressed their regret for this incident, and the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran will not hesitate to appease and satisfy the survivors of this incident.
The diplomatic apparatus of the Islamic Republic of Iran, while emphasizing appeasement and sympathy with the survivors of this incident, considers itself obliged to protect and safeguard national interests against other foreign governments. Therefore, while preparing for meaningful negotiations, it will continue to stand up against any of the parties that seek their own political interests and continue their pressure and hostility against the Iran by using this tragic incident, and will not allow any foreign party to harm Iran's national interests.
