Kanaani: Islamic countries must stand with Palestine, any foolish action against Iran will be accompanied by a devastating response

The Foreign Ministry spokesman said that Islamic nations and countries should stand with the Palestinian people, saying, “We do not give any right to the Zionist occupying regime and this regime does not have any right.”

NOURNEWS- Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman, Nasser Kanaani, at a press conference on the developments in Gaza and Western countries’ support for the Zionist regime, said: “Important developments are taking place in regard to Palestine and that region. We continue to see that the movements that supported the Zionist regime against the Palestinian people are now seeking to switch the position of the oppressor and oppressed with each other.

He went on to say that the Western governments, specifically the US regime and certain European governments, continue to use psychological warfare against the Palestinian nation to switch the position of the oppressor with the oppressed and this is not acceptable.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman said: “Fortunately, we are seeing significant support from Islamic countries in this regard. We are witnessing a vast amount of world public opinion in support of the resistance of the Palestinian people against the Zionists.

Stating that Iran has a clear position towards the Palestinian people, Kanaani added: “We have announced our official position on this issue. The 75-year-old rights of the Palestinian nation were violated by the occupying regime and the unruly countries stood up against the Palestinian people. In the statement of a number of Islamic and non-Islamic countries, the crime of the extremist state of Israel has been mentioned.”

He continued: “Iran’s president and the Secretary of State have announced their position. Iran’s FM proposed to hold an extraordinary meeting of foreign ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in his phone call with his Iraqi counterpart. The Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Holy Quds are important to the Muslim world.”

Regarding the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting to investigate the events in Palestine, he said: “The meeting will help Muslim countries use domestic and international capacities for political and spiritual support and legal and international support for the Palestinian people. Collective support for Palestine will be discussed on the sidelines of the meeting, and it is the countries that are making their suggestions.”

On the economic cooperation between Iran and Saudi Arabia, Kanaani also said: “Various issues have been raised in bilateral meetings. Trade and economic cooperation between the two countries was discussed at the most recent bilateral meeting of the two countries' ministers.”

He added that the issue of cooperation in the fields of joint ventures was also raised and is on the agenda of the Iranian ambassador to Riyadh. He said: We need more time to develop economic cooperation. Even at the meeting of the foreign minister with the Saudi crown prince, this issue has also been addressed by the crown prince of Saudi Arabia.

Kanaani noted that the resumption of activities and holding meetings of the Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation between the two countries and the formation of the coordination committee and the pursuit of economic cooperation were considered by Iran’s FM, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian which was supported by his Saudi counterpart. In this context, the issue of cooperation in the field of joint ventures was raised.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman continued his press conference and touched on the subject of the cancellation of the soccer game between al-Ittihad and Sepahan and reiterated: “This is a football issue and should be pursued within the framework of sports mechanisms. We expect the AFC to act professionally and issue its own opinion in this regard.”

Commenting on the developments in the South Caucasus, Kanaani also said: “Our view and positions are clear. The Zionist regime's presence in the region is not a security measure and will not lead to security. The Zionist regime pursues its interests in creating instability and fomenting divisions in Islamic countries and among them.  We have discussed our position in the bilateral and multilateral summits and meetings.

Spokesman for Iran’s diplomatic apparatus talked about the slow process of appointments at the country’s Foreign Ministry and said: Appointments in the Foreign Ministry are made within the framework of administrative procedures.

Regarding the Azerbaijani official's visit to Tehran, Kanaani said: “This trip was in continuation of the high officials of the two countries and in the political, economic spheres and the subject of the developments in the Caucasus. There were good discussions and consultations. There is a consensus to reopen Iran’s embassy, and the Azerbaijani embassy will also begin its activities in Tehran.

Regarding the alleged release of Iranian funds and its links to the Hamas attack on the Zionist regime, Kanaani reiterated that the Palestinian people have the ability and will to defend themselves and exercise their lost rights. Accusations and statements about Iran and this country’s role are motivated by the political and heavy defeat of Israel, and the restoration of the puppet hegemony of the Zionist regime, and are an attempt to justify the support of the West and the US regime of the Zionist regime's adventures.

Kanaani continued: “We cannot distinguish against 75 years of crime against the people of the region, which is supported by the American regime and the British regime. The recent attack is in response to repeated actions by the Zionist regime to desecrate the Al Aqsa Mosque and the Holy Quds Mosque and the daily crimes of this regime against the Palestinian people. Making claims about Iran and Hezbollah does not diminish the international responsibility of Britain and the United States regarding these crimes.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman added that the US wants to send aircraft carriers to the Mediterranean waters, Hamas also said that this action means practical participation in the violation of the rights of the Palestinian people. American arms deployments and heavy financial support of the Zionist regime all show support for this regime and are a sign of standing against the Palestinian nation.

Regarding the fate of the JCPOA, Kanaani also said: “The JCPOA is a multilateral agreement, and being committed to accepting commitments of this agreement is the responsibility of all members. It was the US and other members who shrugged off their responsibilities. I do not have updated information about the Joint Commission of the JCPOA.”

The Foreign Ministry spokesman also said about holding a joint Iran-Azerbaijan exercise in the Caspian Sea: “I have no details.  Mechanisms have already existed in the framework of joint cooperation between the two countries. In the meantime, we had good and constructive military cooperation. If necessary, the General Staff of the Armed Forces will provide further explanations.

Kanaani spoke about the new round of indirect talks between Iran and the US in Oman and said that there is no specific date for holding indirect talks between Iran and the United States. The path of diplomacy is open as it used to be, and negotiations can be conducted through intermediaries.

He added: “Yesterday we had a meeting of the Joint Consular Committee between Iran and Oman at the level of the Consular Director General of the Foreign Ministry of the two countries, in the same framework, Omani officials announced that they would soon release a number of Iranian prisoners. There is still no information on the exact number specifications or names of the said prisoners.”

In response to the threats of the Zionist regime against the Islamic Republic, Kanaani said: “Any foolish action will be accompanied by a devastating response and if they can defend themselves, they must do it first in the Palestinian arena.”
