NOURNEWS- In the absence of the determination and action and initiative of the domestic Iranian official media to cover the problems and challenges which Iranian people are facing, the Persian-language media located abroad of Iran grabs the microphone and places the sharp blade of hostility in a sheath disguised with media tricks and in the confused and crowded market of news and media, they mold their fake product and show their reports as the voice of the afflicted people.
The sin of Iran’s media negligence is no less than the sin of their media seduction. Why should we think that with the inaction and indifference of the official news institutions inside the country, the inclusive and influential foreign media will also sit idle and not take the lead for focusing on social subjects?
Retaliation with rivals on live air
Let's review a journalistic controversy and an important media story; During the recent visit of Iran’s President to New York, a group of journalists accompanying the Iranian delegation encountered a group of anti-revolutionary oppositions in front of the United Nations building, and in response to their insults, the Iranian delegation pointed to the illegal sanctions imposed on Iran and, for example, they referred to the ongoing effects of the said sanctions on the treatment of patients diagnosed with EB.
Iranian reporters ask the protestors if they have ever held a rally to protest against these illegal sanctions?
That same night, the BBC Persian, in an awkward and anxious and passive attempt, aired a report about patients diagnosed with EB and their situation in Iran.
What was showed in the report of this network was a media-like but really seductive action to neutralize the impeachment of anti-revolution protestors by Iranian journalists.
With this report, the royal media of Britain wanted to show the conflict between the anti-revolution protestors and Iranian journalists upside down, and by showing the bitter scenes from the lives of EB patients, convey the message of the president's inefficiency in dealing with sick and diagnosed citizens.
In this way, the London media took advantage of the lack of activity or indifference of the domestic media towards the condition of these patients and tried to control the public opinion.
When a hot and seductive object is lying on the ground, and you carelessly pass by it, the rival will pick it up and kiss it like a heavenly maiden and appreciate it so that the rival can set the table and control the narration however it wants. Now the rival has prepared everything it needs to do whatever it wants.
Butterfly disease or butterfly effect?
In the heat of the presence of the President of Iran at the United Nations, BBC Persian prepared and aired a program which its theme was the description of the bitter and pitiful situation of people suffering from Epidermolysis bullosa or known as EB or Butterfly disease in Iran and their desperation and inability to get medicines, treatments and care which they need.
The report was based on the statements and pains of some of these sufferers and their relatives, and while describing the difficulties of obtaining medical items, the suspicion of selling imported packages of special dressings and bandages for these patients in the open market – not directly from words of BBC’s narrator, but it was induced as the words of the sufferers of EB.
It doesn't take a great media literacy for an intelligent audience to understand that the BBC has a political and non-media behavior both in the way it made the report and in the timing of the broadcast, in the form of a media program.
It doesn't take a lot of tact for the viewer to understand that the London based media is more focused on New York and Ebrahim Raisi’s presence at the United Nations than it is looking and caring for the victims of EB.
Nothing is more efficient to use whatever subject is available and combine it with the magic of showmanship and videography to create a pseudo-media program as evidence of violation of the words of that senior political official ignore and lessen the importance of the words of a high-ranking official at a big stage filled with world leaders.
It is understandable that families with financial and livelihood difficulties, when they do not find much opportunity to express their grievances in the domestic media, are hunted and targeted by the foreign tribune and their voice of oppression is turned into the ear-splitting screams of the real enemies of Iran and Iranian people.
What is regrettable is the behavior of the media, which wants to soar with the wings of the oppressed patients diagnosed with Butterfly disease, even in the middle of Ebrahim Raisi's trip to New York.
Perhaps this media is more concerned with the theory of “Butterfly effect” rather than” victims of Butterfly disease”, because this theory tells us that every small and insignificant event in the world can lead to large and effect massive events in other parts of the world.
The problems of butterfly patients are certainly not small and insignificant, but it seems to Britain’s royal media, the theory of butterfly effect is much more important than butterfly wounds, because, without mentioning the undeniable fact under the name of pharmaceutical sanctions, the said media is mediating the unproven suspicion of selling imported butterfly dressings and is doing so in midst of visit of a high ranking official to UN for attending a global level and important event which is called UNGA.
The BBC Persian deliberately does not mention the impact of imposed sanctions on people's health, and from the report of Mrs. “Alena Douhan”, the UN special reporter, who after her trip to Iran (April 2023), explicitly stated the negative impact of American sanctions on a wide range of people, including the poor and immigrant and patients in Iran, but there was no trace of Ms. Douhan’s report in BBC’s report about patients diagnosed with EB in Iran.
By doing this, the BBC Persian joined the circle of those western media who censored and silenced Mrs. Douhan's report.
This is how the BBC, in the lack of mobility, creativity, and credibility of the domestic media, uses the “butterfly effect” theory as a model for its propaganda and biased-oriented actions and publishes a pathetic report of the bitter situation of butterfly patients in Iran with precise and utmost opportunism in the timeliest situation.
This report avoids paying attention to all aspects of the story with the media technique of “a little bit of reality” so that there is no place for the cruel and inhumane sanctions imposed on Iran in its media representation.
Ignoring the impact of sanctions on patients' lives is as cruel as the sanctions themselves. There is no other way to deal with this gross media oppression except to make Iran’s health, security, and insurance system more efficient, and at the same time to make the country's media and information system more dynamic and popular.
