Iran expects full disarmament of KRG-based terrorists

The Iranian president expressed hope that Iraq would proceed with plans for the complete disarmament of terrorist groups in the Kurdistan Region.

NOURNEWS- The Iranian president expressed hope that Iraq would proceed with plans for the complete disarmament of terrorist groups in the Kurdistan Region.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Prime Minister of Iraq Mohammed Shia' Al Sudani held a meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York on Wednesday.

Thanking the Iraqi government and nation for hosting the Arbaeen pilgrims, Raisi described the start of the Basra-Shalamcheh railway operation as a commendable step that helps facilitate travels between the two countries.

The Iranian president also referred to the Iraqi government’s actions against the terrorist groups in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, expressing hope that these actions would continue until the complete disarmament of those groups.

Lauding the special relations between Iran and Iraq, Raisi emphasized the need to develop these relations as much as possible and suggested that new mechanisms should be formed to broaden bilateral ties, especially the economic and commercial cooperation.

The Iraqi premier, for his part, referred to the negotiations to bring important joint economic projects to a conclusion.

Regarding the security of the common border, Sudani said, "We will never allow the borders and territory of Iraq to be used to attack Iran."

Trading without dollar by using the national currencies, joint investment, and diversification of platforms for financial exchanges between the two countries were among the other topics discussed by the Iranian president and Iraqi prime minister.
