Iran warns European states against imposing new arms sanctions

Iran's foreign ministry in a statement warned the European countries against their alleged intention to impose new arms embargo against the Islamic Republic.

NOURNEWS- Iran's foreign ministry in a statement warned the European countries against their alleged intention to impose new arms embargo against the Islamic Republic.

“The adoption of tension-creating measures will definitely complicate the management of relations between them and have a negative effect on the process of cooperation, including in negotiations to lift sanctions,” the Iranian foreign ministry said in its statement.

It added that the Islamic Republic of Iran considers the decision of the European Union and 3 European countries not to fulfill their commitments by the eighth year of the JCPOA to be illegal and contrary to their commitments under the JCPOA and Resolution 2231, and an act that creates tension and is accompanied by malicious intent.

In response to the illegal withdrawal of the United States and the re-imposition of brutal sanctions, the Islamic Republic of Iran took compensatory steps in accordance with its rights under Articles 26 and 36 of the JCPOA, and these steps are fully in accordance with the procedures contained in the JCPOA.

The decision not to fulfill obligations by the European Union and three European countries in response to Iran's nuclear actions is completely devoid of legal logic, because Iran gave the European parties a whole year to compensate for the illegal action of the United States in withdrawing from the JCPOA.

After that, Iran gradually started his compensatory steps in order to provide the opportunity for compensation to the European parties and maintain the window of diplomacy.

It is not acceptable that the European Union and the three European countries document this illegal action as a reaction to Iran's actions, which were completely legal and in response to the withdrawal of the United States and the inaction of the European Union and the three European countries. Iran's actions are completely legal from a legal point of view, and the Europeans themselves have acknowledged it.

“The actions of the European parties will definitely have negative effects on the efforts to manage the tension and create a suitable environment for more cooperation between the JCPOA parties,” it said.

The standards of the Islamic Republic of Iran have always been the actions and not the words of the countries. This action of the European parties is inconsistent with their claim of trying to create the necessary space to revive the JCPOA.

There is no doubt that the Islamic Republic of Iran will respond appropriately and within the framework of its own rights to this illegal, provocative action and a clear violation of the obligations of the European Union, France, Germany, and England according to the JCPOA and UN Security Council Resolution 2231.

“We warn the European parties against carrying out and adopting tension-causing measures, which will definitely complicate the management of relations between them and have a negative effect on the process of cooperation, including in negotiations to lift sanctions.”

Britain, France, and Germany said on Thursday they would retain ballistic missile and nuclear proliferation-related sanctions on Iran that were set to expire in October under the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, a step that could provoke Iranian retaliation.
