NOURNEWS- The developments inside the US in recent weeks are very significant. One of the said developments is the continuation of the investigation of the so-called “January 6” case, or the attack on Congress by supporters of “Donald Trump”, which, despite the passage of nearly three years since the said attack, it is still at the top of the media and political circles' attention.
The former leader of the “Proud Boys” group, Enrique Tarrio, has been sentenced to 22 years in prison for the crime of organizing the 2021 riot in the US Congress, which is considered as the heaviest sentence for the leader of this action. More than 1,100 people have been named, accused and arrested in connection with the riot.
It is noteworthy that “Tarrio”, the 39-year-old leader of this group, was not in Washington on January 6, 2021, the day of the said riot, but he helped to organize the participation of this far-right group to prevent the representatives from recognizing the victory of Joe Biden in 2020 presidential elections.
Before him, three other members of this group were imprisoned from 15 to 18 years. Also, “Stewart Rhodes”, the founder of “Oath Keepers” group, was sentenced to 18 years in prison in May.
Regarding this matter, the jury of the Fulton city court in the state of Georgia, USA, has accused Donald Trump of “disobeying the law” and “attempting to invalidate the results of the 2020 election” and, in a rare move, the court has ordered the arrest of Trump, a former president and a candidate for the 2024 presidential election.
In the lengthy 98-page indictment of the court, 19 defendants (18 former officials along with Donald Trump) and 41 accusations have been mentioned. All the defendants have been charged with “disobedience to the law”, which can lead to up to 20 years in prison.
In the continuation of this case, Trump surrendered himself to Fulton County Jail to set a date in the conspiracy case in the 2020 election in the state of Georgia, and after a few minutes, he was temporarily released with a $200,000 bail.
Trump's former trade adviser, Peter Navarro, was also found guilty of defying Congress. He has refused to cooperate with the investigation of the US Congress on the January 6 riot.
Last year, Steve Bannon, another allies of Trump, was found guilty in court because of not cooperating with the case process, which shows the high level of sensitivities in America’s internal security issues.
Issuing such heavy sentences for violators of national security is not limited to the US, as in France, in recent days, heavy sentences have been issued for those who disrupt French security during street protests for the killing of a young man by the police.
Last week, the Minister of Justice of France, Dupond Moretti, said that about 2,000 people were arrested by the police in connection with the recent protests against the murder of a 17-year-old French teenager, and 1,800 of them were sentenced to prison.
The point is; According to French media reports, the majority of these detainees are children between the ages of 13 and 17!
France's justice minister has called for a “quick, decisive and systematic response” by judges to the worst urban violence in France since 2005, with many French courts quickly holding trials to prosecute the suspects.
France’s minister of justice said in an interview with “RTL” radio; Among the 2,107 people who have been trialed, 1,989 people have been found guilty and 1,789 people have been sentenced to prison.
He added: “I asked the judges to be decisive, and they also responded positively. The question of restoring law and order was also been raised.”
Moretti has said earlier: “Parents who do not take care of their children and let them go to the street at night, knowing that their children will go to the street to riot, will face 2 years in prison and a fine of 30,000 euros. Raising and grooming children is not the responsibility of the government. The government can help parents, but it cannot replace them.”
The rulings issued in America and France regarding national security protestors show the fact that countries, even those who claim to have the highest democracies, have no appeasement with those who threaten the country's security and its stability, and the age and position of individuals who have committed these crimes will not be an obstacle in the prosecution process.
The field of security, both national security and social and psychological security of the society, are red lines which, governments all over the world consider themselves obligated to provide and secure them, and that is the main reason why in America the case of the attack on the Congress which has happened nearly three years ago is still open, and every day new defendants are being summoned to court to face heavy judicial sentences.
