NOURNEWS- As Ukraine’s struggle against Russia and its proxies continues, Kyiv must also contend with a growing problem behind the front lines: far-right vigilantes who are willing to use intimidation and even violence to advance their agendas, and who often do so with the tacit approval of law enforcement agencies.
A January 28 demonstration, in Kyiv, by 600 members of the so-called “National Militia,” a newly-formed ultranationalism group that vows “to use force to establish order,” illustrates this threat. While the group’s Kyiv launch was peaceful, National Militia members in balaclavas stormed a city council meeting in the central Ukrainian town of Cherkasy the following day, skirmishing with deputies and forcing them to pass a new budget.
Many of the National Militia's members come from the Azov movement, one of the 30-odd privately-funded “volunteer battalions” that, in the early days of the war, helped the regular army to defend Ukrainian territory against Russia's separatist proxies. Azov uses Nazi-era symbolism and recruits neo-Nazis into its ranks, an article in Foreign Affairs downplayed any risks the group might pose, pointing out that, like other volunteer militias, Azov has been “reined in” through its integration into Ukraine’s armed forces. While it’s true that private militias no longer rule the battlefront, it’s the home front that Kyiv needs to worry about now.
Since the Crimean crisis, the militias have been formally integrated into Ukraine’s armed forces, but some have resisted full integration: Azov, for example, runs its own children’s training camp, and the careers section instructs recruits who wish to transfer to Azov from a regular military unit.
But, Kyiv’s recent efforts to incorporate independent armed groups into its regular armed forces, as well as a continuing national sense of indebtedness to the militias for their defense of the homeland, make addressing the ultranationalism threat considerably more complicated than it is elsewhere. According to Schaaf and the Institute Respublica, Ukrainian extremists are rarely punished for acts of violence. In some cases, such as C14's January attack on a remembrance gathering for two murdered journalists, police actually detain peaceful demonstrators instead. By doing so, Ukraine’s government has shown its true colors, and it is contradicting every claim of Western countries regarding freedom, justice and liberal, democratic values.
If Western countries claim about themselves, being as protectors of liberalism and freedom is true, then Western diplomats and human rights organizations must urge Ukraine’s government to uphold the rule of law and to stop allowing the far right to act with impunity.
But, of course, the US and its allies do not concern themselves with realities of the world which harms their propaganda and policies for imposing wars and conflicts on other countries as an attempt for achieving their goals.
The war in Ukraine, which, in reality, is America’s proxy war against Russia, has led to massive profits for the American defense industry. While the West calls this war as a fight against the great Evil (Russia), its purposeful support of a Neo Nazism regime in Kyiv is nothing less than being an advocate for the same mindset.
One must ask, with existing of abundance of evidence regarding Ukraine’s Neo-Nazism and governmental corruption, why the US and its allies keep supporting Ukraine?
The short answer to this question is that, the situation in Ukraine is a great example and reflection of the realities of Western countries’ mindset and their deep-rooted corruptions. But, as a longer answer, we must mention past reports regarding the White House and Joe Biden’s son being affiliated with Ukraine’s government corruption in guns black markets and so on, and of course, the War is profitable for Western defense industries, so the longer the War goes on, the richer they get.
The West does not care for liberal values or human rights, Western countries’ only goal is to stay in power of the current world order. Ukraine and the expansion of NATO in the region was a great excuse for the US to wage its proxy war against Russia, if by doing so they have to support a few Neo-Nazism so be it.
This is the main reason for America’s extended and unending support of Ukraine, The US continues to provide military assistance to Ukraine just to perpetuate the Ukraine crisis and maximize its own political and economic interests. This move by the US has shown no bottom line and continues to pour fuel on the fire of the Ukraine crisis, completely ignoring the humanitarian crisis and the risk of terrorism and the expansion of far right and Nazism mindsets that may worsen.
Aforementioned facts are is the mentality of the West, no matter the cost, they want to stay in power, but because of recent developments such as BRICS and expansion of media outlets outside of Western countries’ empire of lies, the public opinion of the world can see the Western governors as what they truly are.
