NOURNEWS- This Saturday, after the US announced the presentation of a new military package to Ukraine, while quoting two senior American officials, Reuters wrote in an exclusive news: Biden's administration has decided to send anti-armor ammunition containing depleted uranium to Ukraine.
This action is carried out by spending hundreds of millions of dollars, while the Americans have claimed that this ammunition is fired from American Abrams tanks and are capable of destroying Russian tanks.
At the beginning of April this year, the Ministry of Defense of Britain admitted that it had provided the shells containing depleted uranium to the Ukrainian army.
While considering America’s not so great track record in this regard, the recent action of the US must be analyzed from several points of view:
First; According to previous evidences, a significant part of the side effects and consequences of depleted uranium weaponry are on the soldiers who use them.
At the end of the first Persian Gulf War, i.e., in the fall of 1991, when the American soldiers returned to their country, the number of victims of this war was 760, including 294 dead and about 450 wounded, but today, the number of victims and wounded has reached 30% of all the soldiers present in that war.
According to the statistics of the American Veterans Affairs Institute, 221,000 of those who were present at the war, that is, 30% of the soldiers had disabilities and injuries caused by the war, and many of them died as a result of the use of weapons containing depleted uranium.
Studies show that the children of male soldiers who participated in the First Persian Gulf War faced twice as many birth defects in comparison to others, and this number was three times the normal rate for the children of female soldiers who participated in this war.
After the Second Persian Gulf War, the US Department of Veterans Affairs announced that numerous US military personnel who participated in the invasion of Iraq, as well as their children who were born later, suffered from an unknown complication known as "Persian Gulf Syndrome."
At first, the Pentagon denied the occurrence of such complications in soldiers and considered it related to the psychological effects of being on the battlefield, but then it turned out that the cause of this complication was the use of ammunition containing depleted uranium, which caused similar effects to cancer in soldiers present in the field and their children.
Regarding this matter, the US Department of Veterans Affairs filed a complaint against the Pentagon and ordered the US Department of Defense to pay compensation to the soldiers and their families.
It seems that by sending the same controversial ammunition to Ukraine, the US and Britain are looking to repeat this disaster on a larger scale, which will endanger the lives and future of thousands of soldiers and their families.
Worse than highlighted points; Most of the soldiers on the Ukrainian side are made up of people from other countries, which will eventually lead to the expansion of the effects of these weapons to other parts of the world.
Second; The use of these weapons in the target areas also causes countless human losses, which can be clearly referred to as a genocide.
The Americans, who committed a massive disaster against humanity in the Vietnam War with Agent Orange chemicals, have committed similar crimes in other parts of the world using depleted uranium ammunition.
The use of these weapons by the US and Britain in Iraq has caused thousands of people to struggle with cancer and countless children born with malformations and severe respiratory diseases.
Studies show that the abnormal increase in cancer in some Iraqi cities, especially Basra, was due to the use of uranium-containing ammunition between the years of 1991 and 2003.
The Western countries have used these weapons before in the Balkan war, as Sputnik wrote in a report a while ago: "The consequences of using these types of ammunition have also appeared on the territory of Serbia. Every year, hundreds of children get diagnosed with cancer there, and out of every 400 patients per year, only 60 can be saved. Such a rate of cancer patients had never been seen in this country before the NATO bombing."
Today, the US and the UK, under the guise of supporting Ukraine, are officially committing genocide against the people of Ukraine and Russia, which, due to the flood of immigrants from Ukraine to other countries, can become a global crisis.
Third; The use of these weapons has severe environmental consequences that will last for many years, as stated in a UN classified report released in May 1999: "This type of munition is actually a form of nuclear waste. And using it is very dangerous and harmful."
In a situation where the world today is facing severe climatic and weather crises and the supply of healthy water and food resources has become a crisis, the use of these weapons will result in the destruction of land and water resources and severe environmental pollution, which can be clearly considered as an example of a crime against humanity.
More importantly; Ukraine is the largest grain producer in the world and due to Kyiv's role in supplying grain and food to other countries, the use of these weapons could cause a global disaster in addition to the lives of people and the environment of this country.
Fourth; The actions of the US and Britain to send these weapons to Ukraine will face a definite reaction from Russia, as Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized after the deployment of nuclear weapons in Belarus that if Kyiv receives and uses radioactive weapons from its Western supporters, Russia will take reciprocal action.
The Russian authorities have repeatedly announced that the increase in arms aid to Kyiv will further intensify Moscow's responses and the intensification of the scope of the war, so this action of the US and Britain should be considered as officially fanning the flames of a war that has so far left half a million victims and millions of displaced people.
Based on these facts, we can say; The heads of the US and Britain have committed a great crime against the military men, civilians and the environment by sending bombs impregnated with depleted uranium to Ukraine, they have committed the same crime before in Iraq and some other parts of the world, but the silence of human rights claimants and the brazen justifications of the Western media outlets has caused it to continue.
