NOURNEWS- On 28 August 2023, phase 11 of the South Pars gas field was inaugurated as the world's largest joint gas field in Asaluyeh, and operation regarding gas production from the most Iranian phase of this field has started after a 20-year hiatus with the presence of the president of Iran.
This important development in the country's energy stage is very important from several perspectives:
First; According to the statics, the implementation of the 11th phase of South Pars gas field, in addition to being a foundation of many economic achievements, is able to answer Iran’s domestic needs and wants, is a great source for trade and exchange with foreign countries, also, this development is a sign of protection of nation of Iran’s rights regarding joint gas fields. In addition to saving 800 million dollars in foreign exchange, this gas field can earn at least 5 billion dollars for Iran in the future.
Minister of oil of Iran, Javad Oji, stated that in the coming months, gas production from South Pars field 11 will reach 10 to 12 million cubic meters, and further said: Before winter, gas production from this gas field will reach 15 million cubic meters per day.
Oji added: 20 more wells will be drilled in this phase, and gas production from phase 11 will reach 50 to 56 million cubic meters per day. The created capacities can help a lot to increase the country's gas capacities and realize the government's goals in increasing the availability of stable gas throughout the country and raise Iran's position in the world.
Second; This great achievement can be seen as an important step forward in the fight against the economic terrorism of the West against Iran. The Western countries wanted to turn the economy into a tool of pressure and blackmail against Iran with their imposed sanctions.
Total's contract value of phase 11 of south Pars gas field was estimated around 4.8 billion dollars, but this company withdrew from the development of phase 11 of South Pars due to the imposed sanctions against Iran in 2017, but now with the efforts of domestic experts and by moving the platform, the operation of this phase has started 4 years earlier.
Third; One of the most important developments of Iran in recent months in the field of foreign policy is relying on convergence with its neighboring countries and countries in the region, which, with a comprehensive view and a pragmatic and result-oriented approach, has been able to take steps in the direction of securing Iran’s national interests without tying issues to mere relations with the West. Even now, Iran's proven enormous capacities in South Pars gas field can be the basis for the formation of scientific-technological diplomacy between Iran and its neighbors.
To be more precise; Today's technical and engineering knowledge can lead to creation of a dimension of the diplomacy between neighboring countries, which, along with security, political and economic issues, can ultimately lead to having a greater role in global equations and the complete absence of foreigners and their interference in the region.
Fourth; The implementation of the phases of south Pars gas field is very effective in stabilizing Iran's position in the modern and multilateral world order, also, Iran has shown its readiness for having a strong presence in the multilateral world order by becoming a member in SCO and BRICS and having long-term economic cooperation by doing so.
Fifth; The importance and necessity of the achievements achieved in South Pars gas field should also be seen in the narration and position of the Persian-language based media outlets regarding this development. These media outlets are seeking to diminish south pars gas field importance with using tactics such as obfuscation, humiliation and disappointment.
For example, BBC Persian claimed in its reports: "Even if phase 11 of South Pars is fully opened and operational, it can only partially compensate for the problem of natural gas shortage in Iran, and the crisis of natural gas shortage in the coming winter will also threaten Iran's energy security!"
In any case, it should be noted; In addition to important domestic economic achievements, the recent development not only strengthened the name and position of Iran as a role model in the path of independence and indigenous development of countries, but also it has shown an important component in the process of Iran's role in the international arena, furthermore it is a clear sign of the collapse of the policy of sanctions and isolation of Iran which is being used by the West.
