Ifs and buts regarding the security agreement between Baghdad and Washington

Considering America's grave history for fostering terrorism, the solution to Iraq's security problems is not a security agreement with the covenant-breaking America, but the solution is to remove America's presence from the region and to establish security agreements with regional countries against terrorist movements supported by the US.

NOURNEWS- Khalid Al-Yaqobi, security policies advisor of the Prime minister of Iraq, emphasized about the recent security negotiations between Iraq and the US in a recent television interview.  According to Al-Yaqobi, the Iraqi commanders are focused on protecting Iraq's territorial sovereignty in their negotiations with the US and, Iraq has achieved all of its goals in these negotiations.

The advisor to the Iraqi Prime Minister added: Before this agreement, American drones were allowed to fly at an altitude of 3,000 meters in the aerial territory of Iraq, but now it has been agreed that the drones should fly only in the areas where ISIS is present and only at an altitude of 5,000 meters.

He said: According to this agreement, any movement regarding American troops must be with the approval of the government of Iraq, and a military committee must be formed between the two sides for reviewing the capability of the Iraqi forces and the seriousness of the existing threat and to identify the weak points of the Iraqi forces. Mr. Al-Yaqobi said: we must try to evacuate every foreign troop from territories of Iraq.

It is mentioned in the joint statement of US and Iraq that: With a focus on the significant achievements of the fight against ISIS and emphasized on joint cooperation with the Iraqi security forces, including the Peshmerga forces, and joint adherence to regional stability, Iraq and the US discussed the challenges and opportunities of their cooperation.

Iraq's adherence to the protection of American individuals and advisors and the international coalition and convoys and diplomatic delegations is emphasized in the joint statement of Iraq and the US, and the delegations are determined to hold joint security cooperation talks in the future and related meetings for reviewing the threat of ISIS and current and future operational needs of forces of Iraq. Also, the needed efforts for improving the strength of the Iraqi security forces have been emphasized in this statement.

Washington and Iraq are showcasing the successful end of these preliminary security talks as a sign of the commitment of the two countries to the continuation of bilateral military cooperation in all fields, which the defeat of ISIS under the commands of Iraqi forces is one example for these fields of cooperation.

There are several important points to explain in this regard:

First; America's track record shows this country’s totalitarian and unilateralism approach, which is solely based on the hegemonic interests of Washington. The occupation of Iraq in 2003 and the formation of ISIS in 2014 due to the security and intelligence vacuum imposed on Iraq by the US is a clear manifestation of America’s totalitarian and unilateralism approach.

According to these records and facts, the so-called American coping with Iraq's demands and conditions can have only one reason, and the reason for achievements of Iraq are due to this country’s role in the resistance front, which in addition to establishing the security and integrity of this country, it has upgraded Iraq’s regional and global position.

Second; The trend of developments in the region shows the sharp decline of America's position. Convergence between the countries of the region in recent months, including the development of relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia, the return of Syria to the Arab League, the desire of the countries of the region for security convergence, including in the maritime domain with Iran, the opposition of the Arab countries to American plans for normalization of relations with the Zionist regime, the development of relations with American allies in The region with China and Russia and... proves the fact that all of these developments and the decline of America’s positions is due to the resistance front.

America giving up its two-year-long extravagances regarding the exchange of prisoners and the release of Iran's blocked assets in South Korea, the change in America's behavior towards paying parts of Iraq's debts to Iran, etc. are other examples of this truth.

According to the abovementioned facts; What is said to be America's giving in to Iraq's demands in the recent agreement is not due to America's interactive approach, but it is because of the weakening of this America’s global position, which has forced Washington to settle for minimal achievements.

This is an important point to make to the Iraqi authorities, they have to look more carefully at the promises and commitments of the US, including in the field of security, especially that, today, with the valuable experiences that Iraq has gained alongside the resistance front in fighting against ISIS and having an efficient army and people-oriented forces can play a role in securing Iraq’s security and even the whole region without the need of American intervention in this matter.

Third point to make is that; In the joint statement of the Baghdad-Washington agreement, the issue of fighting ISIS is mentioned as the main component and function of the activity of American forces in Iraq. Meanwhile, the Americans used ISIS as an excuse to circumvent the resolution of the Iraqi parliament after the assassination of the resistance commanders in 2020, and America’s record has been filled with its support for ISIS and other terrorist groups in Iraq and the region.

The world acknowledges that the defeat of ISIS was not due to the actions of the US, but ISIS was defeated due to the performance of the resistance front centered on the Islamic Republic of Iran and great humane beings such as Martyr general Soleimani and the popular mobilization based on the fatwa of religious authority.

Even now, there are many evidences regarding renewed and chained movements of the US for reviving ISIS in Iraq and Syria; for example, the destruction of the popular mobilization in Iraq as the pioneers’ force for fighting against terrorism and the transfer of forces and military movements in Syria with the aim of regaining power of ISIS can be evaluated in the same light.

Beyond the abovementioned facts; One of Iraq's current security challenges is the establishment of separatists and terrorist groups such as Komala, The Kurdistan Free Life Party known as PJAK, and PKK in this country, which all of them were supported by the US, and Iraq’s challenges’ complementary link is the struggle of the US for Mossad's influence in this country.

Considering America's grave history for fostering terrorism, the solution to Iraq's security problems is not a security agreement with the covenant-breaking America, but the solution is to remove America's presence from the region and to establish security agreements with regional countries against terrorist movements supported by the US.

One example for of these regional security agreements is the Tehran-Baghdad agreement, which was signed by the parties during the visit of Admiral Ali Shamkhani, the then secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, to Iraq last year, and the Iraqi side pledged to end the presence of separatists and terrorists on its borders with Iran in accordance to this signed agreement.

The certainty of the Islamic Republic of Iran, along with its comprehensive interaction with its neighboring countries in providing stable and all-round regional security, will give a decisive response to any security threat against Iran and the region, as in the past. America cannot hide its terrorism-based nature under the cover of security agreements with West Asian countries no more.
