NOURNEWS- An ambush by ISIS terrorists targeted a military bus in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, resulting in the killing of 25 Syrian soldiers and injuring 10 others, according to security sources.
A military official in Syria confirmed the news to Sputnik News Agency saying, "A terrorist group targeted a military bus in the desert near the second station, southeast of Deir ez-Zor, leading to casualties among the soldiers."
"Armed individuals affiliated with ISIS executed an ambush against a military accommodation bus on the road to the second station 'T2' in the desert of Al-Mayadin in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor," the source elaborated.
In a prior report, a security source informed Sputnik on Friday that 20 soldiers were killed, and 10 others were injured in the ambush in eastern Syria.
The toll later increased to 25 martyrs from the Syrian Arab Army due to an attack by ISIS terrorists in the Deir ez-Zor desert.
It's noteworthy that intense clashes, involving heavy and light weaponry, erupted on July 25. The clashes occurred between armed groups loyal to the US military around illegal American bases in the oil and gas fields in eastern Deir ez-Zor, Syria.
Ongoing clashes, as per the latest report, have led to casualties among militants loyal to the US military. The conflict's escalation is tied to struggles for control, influence, the distribution of stolen Syrian oil, and resource-sharing in the region.
A correspondent for "Sputnik" in eastern Syria reported, citing local sources in the Deir ez-Zor countryside, that "a group of militants loyal to the US military were killed and others injured during intense clashes on Tuesday afternoon, July 25th. The clashes involved militants from the so-called 'Deir ez-Zor Council', affiliated with the 'SDF' forces loyal to the US military on one side, and militants from the 'Military Police', 'Asayish' forces, and another group known as 'HAT', also affiliated with the 'SDF', on the opposing side."
