The goal and obstacles of Russia and Ukraine’s meeting for peace

Practically, it is impossible to expect that the meeting in Riyadh will lead to peace and the end of the Ukraine war, as the Wall Street Journal also announced that the Jeddah meeting will be held without the presence of Russia!

NOURNEWS- The American based Wall Street Journal announced that Saudi Arabia plans to host the peace talks related to the war between Ukraine and Russia, and wrote: At this meeting, high-ranking officials from 30 countries will be present.

According to this report; The said meeting is scheduled to be held on August 5 and 6 in Jeddah, and countries such as Indonesia, Egypt, Mexico, Chile, Zambia, England, South Africa, Poland and the EU have announced their participation in this meeting.

Although some domestic and foreign media circles try to suggest that Saudi Arabia's attempt for hosting this said meeting is a sign of good relations between Riyadh and Washington and, on the contrary, the weakness of Iran's diplomacy in this regard. But when you put in respective the developments of the Ukraine war and the level of relations of Saudi Arabia with Russia and the West, the said meeting reveals other points.

In a realistic approach to what is going on in the world scene along with the decline of American unilateralism, Saudi Arabia has taken a new trend in the field of its foreign policy, which has been manifested in the development of relations with Iran, an interactive approach towards Yemen, the revival of relations with Syria, It can be seen that Russia's cooperation in reducing oil production, improving relations with China, and refusing to accept a compromise with the Zionist regime can be seen.

The set of these actions has actually been in a direction contrary to the wishes and goals of the US, so that senior American officials have gone to Saudi Arabia many times to change Riyadh's position, but it has not brought any tangible results!

By having the mentioned points on your mind, we can say; Saudi Arabia's hosting of the peace meeting is not due to cooperation with America, but because of Riyadh's realistic view towards global developments and confrontation with American unilateralism.

To be more precise; With this hosting, Saudi Arabia has taken another step in the path of independence from America and is trying to highlight its name as an independent country from the surrounding circle of America, to experience a new role in the international scene.

On the other hand; A look at the record of the war in Ukraine shows that the wide and numerous actions and plans presented by various countries such as Turkey, Iran, China, Brazil, etc., while emphasizing on the need for a universal approach and the use of diplomacy and political strategies to end this war, have always been faced major obstacles.

First; From the beginning, the Western countries’ strategy in regards to the war in Ukraine has been a unilateralist strategy, based on the continuation of the war and against any peace plan.

Second; Although some mediation plans, such as Turkey's and the UN’s plan for exporting and transferring Russian and Ukrainian grain to the world markets, brought results, but ultimately the West's non-commitment to the said agreements has led to the collapse of these agreements.

According to these points; Although the Western countries have spoken about their readiness for achieving peace while showing themselves as supporters of the upcoming meeting in Jeddah, in reality, their practice is still based on the principle of sending weapons and continuing the war, as the US has recently announced a military aid of several hundred million dollars to Ukraine.

Meanwhile; Andrii Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, said in a provocative move: Kyiv is going to start negotiations with Washington this week to provide security guarantees to Ukraine until the country's accession to NATO is fully realized.

Beyond that; Western media have reported that 2,000 Ukrainian special forces are undergoing military training in a closed barracks in England to fight in the next stages of the war with Russia.

The totality of these warmongering movements of the West has caused the leaders of Kyiv to insist on staying away from peace and the political process, as the president of Ukraine has said after the drone attack on a commercial area in Moscow: "The war is reaching the strategic centers and military bases of Russia, and we must Prepare for new attacks targeting energy infrastructure next winter."

What is clear in these statements is that; Practically, it is impossible to expect that the meeting in Riyadh will lead to peace and the end of the Ukraine war, as the Wall Street Journal also announced that the Jeddah meeting will be held without the presence of Russia!

Regardless of these issues; Saudi Arabia's new practice of playing an independent role in global developments can be seen as a sign of stabilizing a discourse in the international sphere, the most important component of which is the move towards multilateralism and the rejection of unilateral American interference.
