NOURNEWS- The Pentagon watchdog has announced in a report that some Western weaponry sent to Ukraine has been stolen. Meanwhile, Washington has sent advanced military weapons worth billions of dollars to Ukraine.
According to this report: Due to the small and the limited presence of the US personnel in Ukraine, this ministry has faced various challenges in intercepting and following up with all of the equipment and weapons sent to Ukraine, while according to US federal laws, all weapons exported from this country must remain under the supervision of the US Ministry of Defense.
By examining the period of February to September of 2022, this report has concluded that the defense cooperation organization with Kiev was unable to monitor and intercept the equipment sent to Ukraine and this inability has led to a large reduction in the ability to implement mandatory instructions.
In this regard and due to the government's inability to accurately track and clarify the billions of dollars of the support packages provided to Ukraine, the Republicans have made "Joe Biden" and its government the target of their widespread criticism.
At the beginning of this year, Kevin McCarthy, the speaker of the US House of Representatives, said that he supports Ukraine, but does not support the US strategy of providing unlimited financial packages and blank checks. Ron DeSantis, one of the Republican candidates in the 2024 US presidential election, has expressed similar views.
In April 2022, CNN announced in a report; Observing the sensitive and critical situation of Ukraine in the confrontation with the Russian forces and the certainty of Ukraine's defeat in such a situation, the Biden government preferred to continue sending huge and extensive military packages and weaponry to Ukraine at the cost of losing its capabilities to track the weapons and military equipment which were sent.
At the same time, one of the sources close to the American intelligence community told CNN: Before the entrance of the equipment to Ukraine, there is high transparency and accuracy, but from the moment the military equipment enters Ukraine and the areas of conflict, the transparency disappears. This issue is similar to a vast black hole that we will not know about without the passage of time!
In the mentioned report, one of the forces of the United States European Command asked Ukraine to provide a receipt in order to investigate and deal with this issue, but no receipt or a clear document about the issues has been provided.
The Office of Defense Cooperation-Kyiv also demanded a detailed report from the Ukrainian government about the costs and damages caused to the equipment provided by the US, and although the Ukrainian government tried to provide a detailed report and prevent the illegal spread of the aforementioned defense equipment, criminal organizations still managed to steal Western equipment.
According to this report; In June 2022, the Ministry of Intelligence of Ukraine stopped several operations by arms smugglers to sell weapons and ammunition stolen from the southern fronts of Ukraine and a separate operation by Ukrainian criminals to sell $17,000 worth of bulletproof vests on the black market.
Interestingly, In the final part of this report, no recommendations or solutions were provided and it is only mentioned: "The Ministry of Defense has taken various measures to reduce the existing restrictions for in-person and operational inspections in Ukraine!"
