Why does America not respond to the accusations raised by the UN's reporters!?

On October 5, 2022, a group of special procedures reporters of the United Nations sent a joint report to the government and specifically to the United States Secretary of State on the subject of "Effects of unilateral US sanctions against Iran in the field of environment" to the permanent representative of this country in Geneva and asked some questions, the US has been requested to answer these questions within 60 days.

NOURNEWS - The sanctions of the United States of America against the Iranian nation, which began in 1979, have caused a lot of damage to the country, and despite Biden's announcement in his election programs to change the way of the Republicans, the country continues to follow the same path, but with greater intensity.

The ill effects of these unilateral and extensive financial, economic and commercial sanctions can be examined from different dimensions and contrary to the claims of the American authorities, they have affected a wide range of aspects of Iranian citizens' lives.

Although according to the JCPOA agreement on July 14, 2015, Washington removed or reduced part of these sanctions in exchange for limiting Iran's nuclear activities, but in May 2018, with Trump's withdrawal from the JCPOA, and subsequently on August 6, 2018, with Executive Order 13846, it returned part of the sanctions. He announced again.

In continuation of this process, on November 5, 2018, the US government returned all the sanctions lifted according to the JCPOA and imposed new sanctions, including sanctions on energy, shipping, financial sectors, and more than 700 people.

One of the most important aspects affected by these sanctions is the environment, which is usually tried to be forgotten in the face of Western media propaganda, while this issue is directly related to the lives of nations and cannot be ignored.

Meanwhile, the commitment to protect the environment by the resolution of the General Assembly under the title "helping to promote human well-being and full enjoyment of all human rights" which the resolution of the Human Rights Council defines as "the right to life, the right to enjoy the highest standard of physical health" and spirit, suitable standard of living, suitable food, housing, safe drinking water and participation in cultural life" has been identified.

In this regard, a group of UN special procedures reporters on October 5 of this year (September 27, 2022) sent a joint report to the United States government and specifically to the foreign minister of this country on the topic of "Effects of unilateral US sanctions against Iran in the field of environment". The permanent representation of the United States in Geneva sent a copy of it to the permanent representation of our country in Geneva.

Based on the reasoned evaluation of the obtained information, these reporters have expressed their serious concern about the US sanctions as an effective factor in Iran's environmental decline and have stated that these sanctions are the right of the Iranian people to enjoy a healthy and stable environment, the right to health.

In this report focusing on the environmental effects of sanctions, five special rapporteurs including the special rapporteur on the negative effects of unilateral coercive measures on the enjoyment of human rights regarding climate change, the special rapporteur on the right to enjoy the highest accessible standard for physical and mental health, and the special rapporteur on the rights of minorities. Along with two independent experts, including an independent expert on promoting a democratic and just international order and an independent expert on human rights and international solidarity, they criticized Washington and expressed concern about the impact of sanctions on various areas that threaten the lives of the Iranian people.

This group of UN reporters has asked the United States to answer these questions within 60 days and clarify this matter.

Previously, Mrs. Elena Dohan, the special rapporteur on unilateral coercive measures, after visiting our country at the invitation of the Human Rights Headquarters, prepared a comprehensive report on the adverse effects of sanctions on the lives of the Iranian people and asked Washington to Answering the questions raised, taking action to remove these cruel sanctions as soon as possible.

Now, it remains to be seen what the results of this serious report will be for verifying the authenticity of the White House's human rights claims, especially since the American authorities always and especially during the recent developments in our country, while supporting the disturbances in the country, continue to cry out to support the "rights of the Iranian people".
