What the West brought upon Afghanistan by occupying and withdrawing

One year after the American withdrawal from Afghanistan, the political, security and economic consequences of this twenty-year occupation still dominate the society of this country.

NOURNEWS - August 15 coincides with the first anniversary of the US withdrawal from Afghanistan. One year has passed since the American withdrawal from Afghanistan, unfortunately, the effects and political, security and economic consequences of this 20-year occupation still dominate the society of this country.

After the fall of the Western-oriented government in Afghanistan and the rule of the Taliban, which was accompanied by the withdrawal of American forces, poverty, insecurity, social and ethnic crises are still the main problems of this country.

The American government, which is directly responsible for the existing conditions, instead of accepting its responsibility, has aggravated the crisis by imposing cruel sanctions.

"Ben Wallace", British Defense Minister, in a conversation with the Daily Mail, considered the twenty-year occupation of Afghanistan a complete failure and said; He is worried that the families of soldiers killed in Afghanistan think that their children were killed for "nothing" in this country.

The Americans' arson in Afghanistan imposed huge costs on this country in various fields.

The Watson Institute of Public and International Affairs at Brown University wrote in a report: The cost of the war in Afghanistan, which began in the fall of 2001, was 2.26 trillion dollars. During these 20 years, a total of 2,448 US soldiers and 1,444 NATO coalition forces have lost their lives in various battles. 69 thousand Afghans were also victims of American aggression in this war.

During the 20-year occupation of Afghanistan by America, 72 journalists and 444 active forces in sending humanitarian aid were among the people who were killed.

America attacked Afghanistan under the slogan of fighting terrorism, but as a result, tens of thousands of civilians were killed and injured in this country.

The racist and anti-human behavior of the West in Afghanistan brought millions of displaced people.

The largest number of Afghan refugees immigrated to Iran, while America's allied countries in the region, as well as European countries, not only did not provide any help and support to Iran in the field of accepting Afghan refugees, but also prevented them from entering their countries in various ways.

This practice of the United States and Western countries continued after the end of the occupation of Afghanistan, and even those people who cooperated with the United States and NATO during the occupation did not succeed in getting asylum from the Western countries.

It is interesting to note that countries like England accepted limited Afghan asylum seekers after international pressure, but refused to keep them and proposed their deportation to the crisis-stricken Rwanda.

During the 20 years of occupation, the westerners created the basis for widespread political unrest and tensions in Afghanistan by disrupting traditional and unitary structures such as the "Louis Jirga" and imposing western bureaucracy on this country, as two people were sworn in as president in one day.

Finally, the Westerners unilaterally signed the Doha Agreement with the Taliban in Qatar, bypassing the government that came to power with their support.

Deculturalization and efforts to spread Western beliefs in Afghanistan were among other measures that America took during the 20-year occupation of Afghanistan by creating and supporting thousands of NGOs.

The establishment of these institutions never helped to increase social growth based on the cultural beliefs of the Afghan people and only created new gaps in the social structure of this country.

Although the western media try to show themselves as the saviors of this group in Afghanistan by exaggerating the support of Afghan women, statistics show that there has been no significant development in the Afghan women's society in the past twenty years.

Currently, nearly 25 million people in Afghanistan are living in poverty, and another 900,000 job opportunities may be lost in Afghanistan this year.

The United Nations Refugee Agency announced in the reports that tell about the role of the occupiers in the economic crisis of Afghanistan; Nearly 23 million people, or 55% of the population of Afghanistan, are facing severe hunger and nearly 9 million of them are at risk of famine.

Today's situation in Afghanistan is very worrying from various political, social, economic and cultural aspects, and the outlook ahead is not promising either.

The Islamic Republic of Iran and the neighboring countries of Afghanistan, together with Russia, have so far held numerous summits to help create peace and stability and the formation of an inclusive political structure approved by all ethnic and religious groups in this country and are still taking steps in this direction.

With the passing of a year since the end of the occupation of Afghanistan, concerns about the increase in insecurity in this country and its spread to neighboring countries are increasing.

Repairing the heavy damage caused by the 20-year occupation of Afghanistan by America in political, social and economic dimensions requires international cooperation and playing a serious role by Afghanistan's neighbors.

In this direction, it is necessary to focus on helping to create an inclusive political structure and providing emergency aid in the fields of food and health, and preventing the formation of a humanitarian crisis and increasing livelihood pressures on the oppressed people of this country.
