Iran's imminent accession to the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation

According to the news received by "Nournews"; At the official invitation of Tajikistan as the current chairperson of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization from Iran to attend the annual meeting of the Council of Heads of the agreement, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Raisi, will attend the meeting in September this year.

NOURNEWS - Ali Shamkhani, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, announced today his conversation with Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Nikolai Patrushev and tweeted: "Fortunately, political obstacles to Iran's membership in the Shanghai Agreement have been removed and Iran's membership will be finalized through technical formalities."
On the other hand; the annual meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of State is scheduled for September 16 and 17, 2021, which is equal to September 25 and 26 in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan.
According to the news report received by "Nournews"; At the official invitation of Tajikistan as the current chair of the organization from Iran to attend the meeting, Ayatollah Raisi, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran will attend the meeting.
The Islamic Republic of Iran, which has been an observer member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization since 2005, will be accepted as a permanent member this time at the official request of Russia, which was sent in writing to the secretariat of the organization.
According to the Shanghai Convention, the permanent membership of the new member states must be approved by all permanent members of the organization, which has reportedly been agreed upon.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization currently has eight permanent members, namely India, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, and four countries Afghanistan, Belarus, Iran and Mongolia as observer members and six countries Azerbaijan, Armenia. Moreover, the Kingdom of Cambodia, Nepal, Turkey and Sri Lanka are also its dialogue partners.
As an influential regional cooperation body, it is an intergovernmental organization established in 2001 by the leaders of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan for multilateral security, economic and cultural cooperation.
The main purpose of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, given the key role played by Russia and China, was to balance US and NATO influence in the region, which, although not yet a multilateral defense treaty, has been able to play an effective role in many regional and global equations.
The SCO member states are the world's largest producers and consumers of energy, with an area of about a quarter of the earth's land surface and about half the world's population, effectively disrupting America's ideal unipolar world and creating a balance of power in the multi-world world.
Iran's presence as a permanent member in this organization, considering the activities and extensive cooperation of its members in the political, security, economic, trade, monetary-banking, energy and cultural fields, will definitely provide more suitable space for our country's international interactions.
