Iran’s president: We have no hostility toward any country

Iran’s president: We have no hostility toward any country

Masoud Pezeshkian, as part of the first provincial trip of the National Unity Government to Sistan and Baluchestan, met with a group of Shia and Sunni scholars and tribal leaders of the province on Thursday afternoon.

Nournews: The President expressed gratitude for the efforts to maintain unity and solidarity in the province and explained the National Unity Government’s approach to managing the country. He emphasized developing underprivileged areas and strengthening relationships with neighboring and Islamic countries as the government’s main priorities.

He stated, "From the beginning of our government, we have focused on fostering unity and cooperation within the country and expanding interactions with all countries, especially those in our region. Unfortunately, the Zionist regime tried to disrupt our plans by assassinating Ismail Haniyeh. Later, they escalated crimes in Gaza and created tension and crises in Lebanon, forcing us to react."

Pezeshkian said that strengthening unity and solidarity comes from the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and is deeply rooted in their beliefs. He added, "If Islamic countries consider themselves true Muslims, why do they argue over minor issues?"

The President stated that one of the main reasons for the continued crimes of the Zionist regime in Gaza and Lebanon is the division among Muslims. He said, "We believe many disagreements among Muslims are rooted in conspiracies by the Zionist regime to prevent unity in the Islamic community. If we truly want to revive the traditions of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), we must stop the disputes and deny the enemy any chance to exploit them."

Pezeshkian also responded to hostile actions by European countries, saying, "We have repeatedly declared that we are not hostile toward any country and aim to expand relations with the world. However, we will not tolerate pressure. We do not impose on others, and we do not accept imposition."

The President further addressed the audience of Shia and Sunni scholars and tribal leaders, saying that one of the government’s key tasks is to address injustice, discrimination, and deprivation in the province. He stated, "The current state of Sistan and Baluchestan, despite its vast potential, does not reflect the dignity of this noble and loyal province. The government is committed to solving the problems, ensuring justice, and earning the satisfaction of its people."

He emphasized that the people are the most valuable asset of the Islamic system, saying, "What disheartens and discourages people, especially the youth, is discrimination and injustice. If we act to earn the people's trust and satisfaction, no power can challenge us."

The President concluded by saying, "We have come to serve the people, not to rule over them. We will work to find solutions for all the province’s challenges, and we believe that by uniting and cooperating as brothers, we can overcome all problems."

Before the President's speech, Molavi Abdulhamid Ismaeelzehi, the Sunni Friday prayer leader of Zahedan, welcomed the government’s visit to Sistan and Baluchestan and appreciated Dr. Pezeshkian’s people-centered and justice-based approach. He said, "Your statements during the election campaign showed a deep understanding of the people's demands, which is why you won the election."

He added, "The people of Iran are very kind, cultured, and grateful to those who serve them. In our view, preserving the dignity and satisfaction of the people is vital for the country, and any policy that leads to public satisfaction is the best policy."

During the session, several Shia and Sunni scholars and tribal leaders shared their views and concerns, including issues like advancing the development of the province, leveraging border capacities, expanding mining activities, involving locals in major projects, using public capacities for security, adopting culturally appropriate decisions, addressing social issues, especially among the youth, promoting tourism, and implementing the resolutions of the Supreme Leader’s visit to Sistan and Baluchestan.
