Nournews: Ali Akbar Ahmadian, who traveled to Saint Petersburg to attend the meeting of senior security officials of BRICS member states, met with President Putin. The two discussed several issues.
Putin emphasized that both Tehran and Moscow are determined to expand and deepen their multifaceted ties. The Russian President noted that mutual exchanges in various fields—such as the economy, science and technology, oil and energy, transportation, and peaceful nuclear cooperation—have seen growth. He said the two countries are expanding their collaborations through mutual forums and mechanisms, including BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the Eurasian Union.
Putin further mentioned his intention to hold a separate meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian during the BRICS summit in Kazan. According to Sputnik, the development of the North-South Corridor is one of the Russian President’s top priorities.
Putin highlighted a 10-percent growth in Iran-Russia trade during the first six months of the year and reiterated Russia's determination to strengthen ties with Iran across various fields. He added that Russia expects the Iranian president to sign new strategic partnership agreements during these separate meetings.
Additionally, Putin expressed that Russia is looking forward to Iran’s president participation in the BRICS summit in Kazan, scheduled to take place from October 22-24, 2024.
