NOURNEWS - The second phase of the new round of talks between Iran and the P4 + 1 began on Thursday, December 10, with the holding of a meeting of the Joint Commission of the JCPOA at 14:30 Tehran time in Vienna.
Prior to the meeting, Ali Bagheri, our country's chief negotiator, held two separate meetings with Enrique Mora, EU Deputy Foreign Minister, and representatives of China and Russia.
A few hours after the meeting, "Hossein Amir-Abdollahian" called the EU foreign policy chief, Joseph Borrell, to discuss the latest developments in the negotiations.
The meeting began, when in recent days, in addition to threatening statements, the Westerners, with a series of extensive psychological operations, made every effort not only to portray the talks as disappointing, but also to introduce the practical positions and proposals of the Iranian delegation as the cause of this impasse.
In this way, the Westerners tried to intensify the pressure on Iran, firstly, to undermine the internal cohesion that is the main support of the Iranian negotiating team, and secondly, to force the Iranian representatives to accept their extravagant and unprincipled demands in the shadow of increasing political pressure.
A noteworthy point in the current negotiations is the continuing dominance of the atmosphere of contradiction over the practices and statements of the Western parties, which has become a dilemma in the way of advancing the negotiations.
While all the countries present in the negotiations and even the officials of the current US administration acknowledge the fact that the withdrawal of this country from the JCPOA has been the cause of the formation of the current complicated situation,
The reasonable expectation is that the wrong party will show goodwill to get the negotiations on the constructive path and take steps to make up for their past mistakes to reassure the other parties.
But not only has Washington so far taken no obvious steps to respond to this demand, but also by continuing to use threats and sanctions in the midst of negotiations, effectively seeking to convey a militant message, that is in contradiction with US officials expressing interest in reaching an agreement through negotiations.
In addition to these actions, the Western-Zionist media is constantly trying to portray the peaceful nuclear activities of Iran, which are fully announced and under the supervision of the IAEA, without providing any documentary evidence, and to instil in the public the false statement that Iran seeks to buy time to acquire new nuclear capabilities by sabotaging negotiations!
The continuation of US sanctions clearly shows that the United States, as the main cause of the current situation and the failure of the JCPOA, is still not willing to change its behavior and only pursues maximum pressure with the slogan of negotiation and agreement, while sanctions and threats do not commensurate with negotiation and in an atmosphere of contradiction negotiation progress and success cannot be expected.
It will certainly become clear in the coming days whether such contradictory behavior and speech is a negotiation tactic, or whether the Western negotiators' strategy is essentially to create new contradictions to stop the negotiations and at the same time continue the media hype to advance the "blame game".
