NOURNEWS – International Group: A letter from members of the US Congress to the Secretary of Defense referred to the threats posed by US troops in Iraq: "Attacks on US facilities in Iraq have increased over the past two months, endangering the lives of Americans and international coalition forces and civilians on a daily basis. These attacks show the weaknesses of our air defense system and must be addressed immediately and the issue needs to be addressed."
Expressing strong concern over the attacks by armed groups against the United States and the International Coalition Forces in Iraq, they said that the installation of the system would protect US forces from the dangers of missile strikes.
While the Iraqi parliament has passed a law calling for the withdrawal of foreign troops from Iraq, efforts by US lawmakers to establish an Iron Dome system in Iraq to protect the presence of US troops in Iraq are virtually without regard to Iraqi law and national sovereignty.
The Pentagon has not yet commented on the proposal made by the US house of Representatives.
