Pezeshkian stresses full coordination to preserve Iran’s economic stability

President Masoud Pezeshkian has stressed the need for full coordination among Iran’s economic institutions to maintain economic stability and contain inflationary expectations amid mounting external pressures.

Pezeshkian made the remarks during a Wednesday visit to the Central Bank of Iran, where he attended a meeting with Economy Minister Ali Madanizadeh, Central Bank Governor Abdolnaser Hemmati, and a group of prominent economists.

The meeting reviewed the latest monetary, foreign exchange, and financial indicators and the Central Bank’s decision-making processes.

Economists also presented their views on addressing trade barriers, managing the country’s new economic conditions, fiscal and budgetary policies, monetary and foreign exchange policies, trade and economic relations, and management of enterprises.

Referring to the special circumstances arising from the US-Israeli war of aggression, economic blockade, and foreign pressures, Pezeshkian underscored the importance of maintaining economic stability and containing inflationary expectations.

“Management of key markets, particularly the foreign exchange and monetary markets, in such circumstances requires complete cohesion and synergy among the monetary policymaking institution, the government and other economic pillars of the country,” he said.

The meeting was held as part of the second periodic session between the Central Bank governor and economists, following the announcement of the US economic pressure campaign against Iran.
