Nournews: Naqvi, who arrived in Tehran on Monday with Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, to hold consultations with Iranian officials, said in a post on X that the two sides had held a “very positive and constructive” meeting with the Iranian president.

“Our discussions focused on the Iran-US conflict, tensions in the Middle East, the way forward, and the steps required by both sides to revive the Islamabad memorandum of understanding, which would lead to a comprehensive resolution of the conflict,” Naqvi said.

He added that President Pezeshkian had “clearly shared the views and concerns of his government,” and that the two sides had a “very constructive exchange” on the issues discussed.

“Significant progress was made, and the meeting concluded with the utmost optimism and a very positive approach,” Naqvi said.

He also expressed hope that “this positive momentum will help pave the way for further progress and lasting peace in the region.”

According to the Pakistan Army, the one-day visit by Asim Munir and Naqvi to Tehran was part of Islamabad’s diplomatic efforts to break the deadlock in negotiations between the United States and Iran and to explore ways to achieve lasting peace and end instability in the region.

Iran has consistently stressed that regional issues should be resolved through dialogue and mutual respect among regional countries, while viewing foreign intervention as a source of instability and insecurity in West Asia. Iranian officials have repeatedly expressed Tehran’s readiness to work with neighboring countries to strengthen regional stability and collective security.

Iranian officials had previously said that Washington’s failure to honor its commitments under the memorandum of understanding to end the war—including its actions in the Strait of Hormuz—was the reason talks aimed at ending the conflict were suspended.

During Monday’s meetings with Pakistani officials, Iranian authorities reiterated that efforts to implement the terms of the memorandum were continuing, stressing that it was the United States that must honor its commitments under the agreement in practice.
