Summarizing the three-day visit of the Iranian parliamentary delegation to Iraq, Ghalibaf said that the atmosphere of the negotiations with high-ranking Iraqi officials was marked by fraternal cordiality; the meetings and discussions indicated that Iraq is on the verge of the final and definitive withdrawal of foreign and coalition forces—forces that had remained in the country for years following the occupation of its territory and airspace.

He said that God willing, these forces will withdraw from Iraq, and the full independence and sovereignty of the Iraqi people and government will be established without the presence of foreign forces; this is a highly significant and fundamental development.

Noting that his visit to Iraq offered a valuable opportunity to hold discussions with Iraqi officials on security, political, economic, and cultural matters, he stated that a comprehensive memorandum of understanding regarding security and border security was signed between Iran and Iraq during the trip.

Ghalibaf said that discussions regarding security issues and the matter of Iraqi groups took place during these meetings, adding that of course, Iran never interferes in Iraq's internal affairs; as a neighboring, friendly, and brotherly country, Iran supports—and will continue to support—any consensus reached by Iraqi groups and officials within the framework of the constitution and while preserving their independence.
