Al Jazeera reported that the council said in a statement: "For the first time, Hamas has formally committed to implementing an operational plan to hand over all of its weapons, a step that will be followed by the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza."

The statement added: "The agreement is the result of months of intensive, good-faith negotiations to advance President Donald Trump's vision for a new framework for governance, security, humanitarian relief, reconstruction, and economic recovery in Gaza, as outlined in the comprehensive peace plan and UN Security Council Resolution 2803."

In a separate post on X, the Gaza Peace Council said the agreed "implementation plan" paves the way for Hamas' disarmament and the start of the Israeli military's withdrawal from Gaza.

The post added that the plan also "offers significant benefits for the people of Gaza, who have long awaited a better future."

The Gaza Peace Council stressed that the priority now is implementing the agreement, adding that it is working with the Gaza National Administration Committee to gradually transfer authority to the committee.
