Behind the Facade of Diplomacy: A New Operations Room Against Tehran

NOURNEWS – US seeks to implement a multilayered pressure strategy by activating new actors, from Yemen and Lebanon to Ukraine, after failing to achieve its anti-Iran objectives, aiming to bolster the Israeli regime's security and reshape the strategic balance in West Asia.

West Asia is once again on the verge of a new security realignment. Current developments suggest the US is simultaneously pursuing two tracks: pressure and negotiations. While Washington continues its strategy of containing and forcing Iran into submission, its failure to achieve previous objectives has driven it to rely on new actors and new instruments. Recent developments not only expose the deadlock in US policy but also point to a multilayered scenario whose consequences, if ignored by the international community, could have broad security and economic repercussions across the region, particularly in the Persian Gulf. At the same time, these developments reinforce the legitimacy of Iran's policy of responding decisively to threats and its smart management of the Strait of Hormuz as a key element of regional deterrence.

A Chain of Security Developments: From Yemen to the Caspian Sea

Recent events suggest that what appear to be isolated incidents may, in fact, be interconnected parts of a coordinated design. While the ceasefire process and limited engagement between Saudi Arabia and Yemen were underway, Riyadh resumed a confrontational approach. At the same time, the Saudi Defense Ministry claimed to have intercepted drones allegedly launched from Iraq, a claim rejected by the Iraqi resistance.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump spoke of Abu Mohammad al-Julani's role in confronting Hezbollah in Lebanon, a development that, if realized, could push the region's security crises into a new phase. Equally significant has been Ukraine's sudden entry into West Asian dynamics. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who has openly strengthened ties with several Arab states and the Israeli regime in recent months, has not only repeated accusations against Iran but also escalated tensions by targeting an Iranian commercial vessel in the Caspian Sea.

At the same time, Iraq's national security adviser announced the arrest of cells allegedly linked to Ukraine and involved in limited bombing operations, describing the case as complex. Zelensky's visit to the US following his trip to the UK, along with reports of possible meetings with Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has added further uncertainty to the situation.

Multilayered Pressure: Diplomacy Under the Shadow of Threats

Alongside these security developments, the diplomatic arena also reflects signs of coordinated pressure against Iran. From the positions of several Arab states on the southern shores of the Persian Gulf and new European Union sanctions to the new British government's stance on military cooperation with the US against Iran, efforts to designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a so-called terrorist organization, and the continuation of cases against Iran at the UN Security Council, all appear to be components of a complementary strategy.

Taken together, these developments indicate that despite failing to achieve its anti-Iran objectives through military and diplomatic means, Washington continues to pursue a strategy of multilayered pressure. On one hand, it seeks to entangle Iran in prolonged security and political attrition by activating new flashpoints. On the other, it simultaneously speaks of readiness for negotiations, creating grounds to justify continued pressure, and potentially future military action, if its demands are not met. Past US administrations have repeatedly coupled calls for negotiations with accusations that Tehran lacks seriousness, often using that narrative to pave the way for greater pressure on the ground.

Ultimate Objective: Creating Security for Tel Aviv

Behind this new alignment, one strategic objective stands out above all others: creating a security buffer for the Israeli regime and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The involvement of actors such as Saudi Arabia, al-Julani, and Ukraine alongside continued pressure on Iran and the Axis of Resistance may be part of a broader US effort to reduce Tel Aviv's security burden while giving the regime time to rebuild its military and political capabilities.

Within this framework, although some reports suggest Netanyahu is seeking to open new fronts against Iran, developments on the ground indicate that Iran's deterrent capability, extensive asymmetric warfare capacity, and resilience against combined pressure present major obstacles to such a scenario.

From this perspective, recent developments can be viewed as a new phase of the US project to advance the strategic objectives of the Israeli regime, a project whose success or failure will depend above all on the ability of regional actors to preserve deterrence and prevent the further expansion of the crisis.
