Deputy Health Minister and Senior Adviser Ali Jafarian, accompanied by an Iranian expert delegation, met with India’s Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Anupriya Patel and her delegation.

Jafarian thanked India for hosting the BRICS health meeting and described the adoption of a joint declaration by member states as an important achievement that would help expand both bilateral and multilateral cooperation within the bloc.

The meeting also addressed cooperation on manufacturing plasma-derived medicinal products using plasma supplied by Iran.

The two sides discussed the requirements for expanding the partnership, with India being considered a new strategic partner for Iran in this field.

Traditional medicine was another focus of the talks. The delegations highlighted opportunities for bilateral cooperation, noting that both countries have integrated traditional medicine into their national health systems, with Iran promoting Persian traditional medicine and India incorporating the AYUSH system.
