The event was held in Shenzhen, China, from July 12 to 20, bringing together more than 270 students from 54 countries to compete in economics, finance and business-related challenges.

Mobin Karimi Dizicheh captured Iran's only silver medal and was also awarded the best finance score, achieving the highest mark in the competition's finance section.

Mohammadhossein Rahimi-Nejad, Alireza Atashi and Ehsan Zolfaghari each won bronze medals, while Amirreza Nematollahi received an honorary diploma.

The results follow another strong performance by the Iranian team at the previous edition of the IEO in 2025, hosted by Azerbaijan, where the country won two silver and two bronze medals.

Iran's latest achievement adds to an impressive series of international successes by the country's students across a wide range of scientific disciplines this year.

Earlier this month, Iran's national chemistry and biology teams collected a combined eight medals, including three golds, at the 2026 International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) in Uzbekistan and the International Biology Olympiad (IBO) in Lithuania.

The country's physics team also delivered an outstanding performance at the 56th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO 2026) in Colombia, winning three gold and two silver medals against competitors from more than 90 countries.

Iranian students also claimed the overall team championship at the Fourth International Mathematics Competition of Shanghai (IMSC 2026), finishing first with four gold and two silver medals.

Beyond academic Olympiads, Iranian teams have continued to excel internationally in robotics. At the RoboCup 2026 World Championship, they earned multiple honors, including the Best Technical Presentation award, and advanced to the world's top four in several competition leagues.
