Speaking to reporters after the meeting on Sunday, Sharif emphasized the close ties between the two neighboring countries and their shared commitment to regional development.
He said that both Iran and Pakistan are working for the prosperity of the region.
The talks mark the start of a 60-day negotiation window set by the Islamabad memorandum for Iran and the US to discuss a final agreement aimed at permanently ending the war and resolving outstanding issues.
Pakistan and Qatar have served as mediators in the negotiations that led to the agreement and Sharif is attending the summit as part of Islamabad’s diplomatic efforts to facilitate the talks.
