Yousefi successfully lifted 261 kg on his third attempt in Gandhinagar, India, becoming the first world record holder in the clean and jerk for the newly established +110 kg weight class.
After securing a bronze medal in the snatch with lifts of 177 kg and 184 kg, Yousefi opened the clean and jerk with a 248 kg lift, enough to guarantee gold in that discipline and an overall silver medal.
The youth Olympic champion made two attempts at 261 kg. His second attempt was unsuccessful, but he succeeded on his final lift, breaking the previous record and cementing his name in the record books.
Bahrain's Gor Minasyan won the overall title, while South Korea's Song Young-hwan claimed the bronze medal.
The 2026 Asian Weightlifting Championships are currently being held in Gandhinagar, India, from May 10 to 17.
