125,630 Civilian Units Damaged in War; No Request for Assistance from Any Country

The head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society emphasized that Iran has not requested assistance from any country, while noting that some countries have expressed willingness to send aid.

Nournews: The head of the Red Crescent stated: “We have not requested help from any country, but some countries were willing to send assistance.”

Pirhossein Kolivand, head of the Red Crescent Society, speaking in a televised interview about the scale of damage caused by the brutal attacks of the Israeli regime and the United States on civilian areas, said: 125,630 civilian units across the country have been damaged, of which 100,000 are residential units. Some of these have been completely destroyed, while others have been partially damaged. Documentation has been sent to international organizations. Among them, 23,500 units are commercial properties used as people’s workplaces.

He added that 339 medical facilities, including hospitals, pharmacies, laboratories, health centers, and emergency centers, were also damaged. Some of these facilities became inoperative, while others resumed activity immediately. For example, Khatam Hospital resumed operations in less than 24 hours.

Kolivand also referred to attacks on medical centers, noting that missile strikes damaged the Red Crescent Rehabilitation Complex located next to Khatam Hospital. He said that Vali-e-Asr Hospital, Shahid Motahari Hospital, Shahid Rajaei Hospital, the Ameneh Infant Care Center, the Red Crescent Rehabilitation Complex, and a welfare center located nearby were heavily struck and sustained damage.

He stated that 32 universities were damaged or targeted, while approximately 857 educational centers and schools were affected. In addition, 20 Red Crescent facilities, including branches, bases, and warehouses, were directly hit.

Regarding infrastructure damage, he said around 15 infrastructure sites, five fuel storage facilities, as well as airports and civilian passenger aircraft were targeted and damaged. He also noted that 49 rescue vehicles during operations and 43 ambulances in service were damaged, some of them directly hit by missiles.

He added that before the conflict, the Red Crescent had four million volunteers, and during the war, 1.6 million additional volunteers joined, reflecting strong public willingness to assist fellow citizens.

Kolivand said extensive international follow-ups have been carried out through the International Criminal Court and the Red Cross regarding violations of humanitarian law. After serious follow-ups, the International Committee of the Red Cross issued a statement, condemned the attacks, and confirmed that the submitted documents were valid for the ICC Prosecutor. He said he personally, as head of the national humanitarian law committee and the Red Crescent, submitted all evidence of violations.

He stressed: “We have not requested assistance from any country or individual. We have only asked international institutions to fulfill their legal responsibilities. That is sufficient for us.” However, he added that many countries expressed interest in providing assistance, which Iran did not obstruct. He also praised the coordinated efforts of the Foreign Ministry, particularly Dr. Araghchi and diplomatic missions, as well as customs and other domestic institutions in managing foreign aid.

He concluded by noting that pharmacies were kept operating 24 hours a day to ensure access to medicine, and additional branches were opened in some areas to prevent people from waiting in long queues.
