President Pezeshkian: Iranians will continue to stand together after ceasefire

President Masoud Pezeshkian has reaffirmed Iran’s unity following the ceasefire agreement with the US, emphasizing that it is a direct result of the sacrifices made by martyred Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and the unwavering participation of the Iranian people.

In a statement issued on social media on Wednesday, he praised the ceasefire as a significant achievement for Iran, marking a moment of national solidarity and strength.

“The ceasefire, with the acceptance of Iran’s key principles, is the result of the blood of our martyred leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, and the achievement of the presence of all the people on the scene,” he wrote.

“From today, we will continue to stand together, whether in the field of diplomacy, defense, on the streets, or in the realm of service.”

Separately, in a 45-minute telephone conversation with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Pezeshkian expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s role in facilitating the temporary ceasefire between Iran and the United States.

He thanked the Pakistani leadership for their efforts and confirmed that Tehran would participate in the upcoming negotiations scheduled to take place in Islamabad.

Sharif expressed appreciation for Iran’s decision to agree to a ceasefire and accept Pakistan’s offer to host talks later this week, according to an official statement issued from the Prime Minister’s office.

He also conveyed his respects to the new Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei.

Earlier Wednesday, Sharif announced the two-week ceasefire and invited delegations from the US and Iran to Islamabad on Friday “to further negotiate for a conclusive agreement to settle all disputes.”

US President Donald Trump announced a two-week ceasefire with Iran, saying Tehran presented a “workable” 10-point proposal for negotiations.

The announcement came less than two hours before the expiration of a deadline Trump had repeatedly extended for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and accept an agreement or face “the destruction of an entire civilization.”

Iran’s Supreme National Security Council said the 10-point proposal delivered to the United States through Pakistani mediation includes a key US commitment to non-aggression, continued Iranian control over the Strait of Hormuz, acceptance of uranium enrichment, and the lifting of all primary and secondary sanctions.

The proposal also includes paying compensation to Iran, withdrawing US combat forces from the region, and ending the war on all fronts, including the war against Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Ali Akbar Velayati, the senior foreign policy advisor to the Leader, asserted that the S was forced to accept the ceasefire as a clear strategic defeat.

In a statement on social media, Velayati stressed that Iran’s armed forces remain at the highest state of preparedness and warned that any miscalculation by the US or its allies would lead to a strong, deterrent response.

Velayati said that in the new global order, Iran is no longer just a country but a leading power in the Islamic world, playing a central role in the emerging multipolar system.

General Mohsen Rezaei, a member of Iran’s Expediency Council, noted that after multiple retreats by the US, President Trump had no choice but to accept Iran’s 10-point proposal as the foundation for negotiations.

He emphasized that Iran’s armed forces remain on high alert and are ready to take decisive action to protect the country’s interests.

“The armed forces’ hands remain on the trigger until we are fully assured that our national interests are safeguarded,” Rezaei affirmed.
