The resolution, which focuses on the human rights consequences of recent military attacks in the region, disregards the root causes of the crisis and calls on Iran to cease its strikes against the targets of the aggressor coalition of the United States and the Zionist regime.
This political and unconstructive resolution also calls on Iran to pay compensation.
Earlier, Ali Bahreini, the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations Office in Geneva, called for unity among regional countries in the face of Israel’s malign designs and warned against emboldening Israel by targeting Iran in political and legal forums.
He stressed, for more than 78 years, our region has borne the cost of an entity whose very existence, with every passing moment, undermines global security and plunges our region further into turmoil. This suffering is compounded when false and fabricated narratives replace realities and are accepted as truth; under such circumstances, defenders are portrayed as enemies.
The Iranian ambassador stated, the Israeli regime has shrewdly turned the President of the United States into an executor of its deviant plans. Such a situation constitutes a serious threat to the entire world. Israel is not only attacking Iran, nor merely targeting Lebanon, nor solely seeking to weaken Palestine; rather, it is striking at the foundations of the regional order and driving the world toward chaos and instability.
He added, today, we assure our neighbors that Iran will not be the final target. After Iran, you will become more accessible targets for the implementation of the dangerous and ideological plans of the Israeli regime. Those who today appear beside you as friends will tomorrow remove their masks.
