Araghchi discusses US-Israeli aggression on Iran with French and Russian counterparts

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has held separate phone calls with his Russian and French counterparts as well as the president of Iraq’s Kurdistan region, discussing regional developments as the US and Israel continue their war of aggression on Iran.

The top Iranian diplomat held the phone calls on Wednesday, the fifth day of the aggression that has so far killed over 1,000 people across Iran, according to official figures. The criminal regimes of the US and Israel also targeted the office of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, during the initial hours of the aggression, leading to his martyrdom.

Barzani offers condolences over Ayatollah Khamenei’s martyrdom

Nechirvan Idris Barzani, the President of the autonomous Kurdistan Region in northern Iraq, extended his condolences over the martyrdom of Ayatollah Khamenei and Iranian civilians in the US-Israeli attacks.

He emphasized that the Kurdistan Region is determined to maintain and boost its friendly ties with Iran.

Foreign Minister Araghchi, on his part, said that the US-Israeli military aggression carried out in the middle of negotiations for a second time in nine months is a clear sign of war-mongering and dishonesty of the US government regarding the Iranian nuclear issue.

Araghchi and Barzani also discussed bilateral cooperation, including within the Iran-Iraq security pact, with the aim of protecting border security and preventing the use of third parties to create regional security.

Russia says US-Israeli attack violates int’l law

During his phone conversation with Foreign Minister Araghchi, Top Russian Diplomat Sergey Lavrov said that the US-Israeli attack on Iran violates the basic principles of international law and the United Nations Charter.

The attack will have very heavy consequences for the security and stability in the region and the entire world, Lavrov noted, while extending condolences over the martyrdom of Ayatollah Khamenei, senior military commanders, and civilians during the ongoing aggression.

Araghchi briefed his Russian counterpart on the latest developments regarding the US-Israeli aggression as well as the targeting of residential areas, schools, mosques, hospitals, among others.

France reiterates US-Israeli attack contrary to int’l law

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot reiterated his country’s stance that the US-Israeli attacks are contrary to international law, expressing hope that calm is restored to the region as soon as possible.

Araghchi briefed his French counterpart on different crimes committed by the US and Israel during the ongoing aggression, including attacks on diplomatic police stations and schools, emphasizing that the UN and all governments share the responsibility for strongly condemning the criminal acts of the US and the Israeli regime.
