In a statement on Sunday, Ayatollah Sistani expressed his condolences for the martyrdom of Ayatollah Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, to the Iranian people and all Muslims

He added, “The high position and his unique role in the leadership of the Islamic republic of Iran over the years is obvious to all. There is no doubt that the enemies with their martyrdom and the beginning of a wide military invasion against Iran have intended to inflict great damage on this dear country.”

Ayatollah Sistani further noted, “The great nation of Iran is expected to maintain unity and not allow invaders to achieve their sinister goals.”

Ayatollah Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, was martyred following an attack by the Israeli regime and the United States on Saturday morning.
