Speaking to IRNA on Tuesday, Baqaei said the American side held talks earlier in the day with Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi and Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Mariano Grossi, during which Iran’s views were relayed.
Baqaei added that the second round of indirect Iran–US talks effectively began on Monday with preliminary discussions between Iran and Oman.
According to the spokesperson, as of 10:00 a.m. local time in Geneva, both Iranian and American delegations were present at the negotiation venue and message exchanges via the Omani side had formally started.
He noted that engagement with the IAEA chief distinguishes this round from previous talks. Baqaei added that the Iranian delegation has arrived in Geneva with full technical and economic preparedness, reflecting Tehran’s seriousness about achieving a result-oriented dialogue.
The new round of indirect talks between Iran and the United States began on February 6 in Muscat, with messages exchanged through the Omani foreign minister.
Both Iran and the US have so far described the talks as positive and expressed willingness to continue.
