In a statement issued early on Tuesday, the Ministry deplored as “illegal and unjustified” a recent decree signed by Argentine President Javier Milei, listing the IRGC’s Quds Force as a terrorist group.
It said that the Argentine government’s decision, driven by “pressure and instigation from the genocidal and occupying Israeli regime,” was contrary to international norms and laws.
The statement warned that such a move not only damages the bilateral relations but also creates a dangerous precedent with legal and political consequences, accountability of which lies with the Argentine government.
The ministry further highlighted the continued rhetoric by some groups affiliated with the Israeli regime in Argentina, by falsely linking Iran to the suspicious 1994 explosion at the Argentine Jewish Center and other incidents, indicating their attempts to “cover up the facts and prevent the truth from being revealed” at the cost of independence and adequacy of the Argentine judicial system.
The statement lauded the IRGC a sovereign institution that derives its legitimacy from the Constitution and the will of the Iranian people in fulfilling the duty to safeguard the country’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity with authority and dignity.
It concluded by saying that the US and Israeli efforts to force countries to label Iran’s armed forces will have no effect on the determination of the IRGC to defend Iran’s sovereignty and protect its national security.
