Araghchi held a phone call on Monday with Amir Khan Muttaqi, the foreign minister of Afghanistan’s Taliban-led government, to talk about the relations between Tehran and Kabul as well as international developments.

Expounding on the recent incidents in Iran, the top Iranian diplomat reaffirmed the Iranian nation’s determination to protect its independence, security and national sovereignty against terrorism and foreign interference.

For his part, Muttaqi condemned foreign interference in the internal affairs of countries, expressing confidence that Iran will defend its security and national sovereignty with unity and national solidarity.

The two diplomats further weighed plans to expand economic relations and facilitate trade exchanges between the two countries.
